Running 3:25:00 [5] 23.0 mi (8:55 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Racing
Called quits after 3:25 and 23 miles. Felt good first 10 miles. Next 6 miles included up and down the hills including HUGE hill. About mile 18 my body was starting to shut down. Pretty much I was done around mile 20. I walked last 3 miles to next aid station where I got in car to go home.
Did I started too fast? Maybe. However my goal was not just to finish. I have done it before.
Would it help going slower? Maybe. However I question that. During drive home my heals started to hurt like crazy. I cannot imagine that I could have lasted longer.
Any regrets? No. I wanted to do the race even I was in questionable condition after last weeks race. I paid my money and if I did not give a try I would have always question if I could have completed the race since I felt reasonably good. Maybe it was my wishful thinking since I did really want to do the race.
Other then not finishing the race - IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AROUND THE LAKE!!! All fall colors were in full dispay - still enough green, yellow, red. There were spots where I thought I should have camera with me.
Since I did not complete the race - I will be in better condition to US Champs (if I decide to go), so there is possitive side of this.
Comparing BRR and Can50 preparation I had - hands down BRR preparation was lot better this Can50. I think I relied too much on fact that I have completed 50 mile race before, so, I know that I can complete the race and I slacked off vs. BRR was on my mind pretty much since August of last year.
Swimming 33:25 [1] 0.5 mi (1:06:48 / mi)
Pool at Per Rec Center. I wanted pool with colder water then Y can provide. Maybe it is just me but water temperature at pool seemed to be higher then it was last time... Next time I am going to Ontario Lake when I need to dip in ice-cold water to get my muscles relaxed
