Gnc classic, m-red, 7.4km, 280m.

Another great day of orienteering that went pretty well. Legs were beat on the hills, but even tho today had more climb, it felt more spread out and more doable. Just had one big mistake on #12, I drifted on a vague hillside and it took me a few minutes to relocate. On the plus side, I did so without running around incircles.

Really happy overall with my navigation and performance this weekend. Motivation to try to get back in shape. Hopefully life calms down after the move in Tminus 1 month!

EDIT: Looking back at my route, i must have locked at the control number at 12 wrong, as i was dead center in teh circle, looked at a flag, then ran in a 7 minute circle before returning to the same spot. UGH!

GNC classic, 6.8k, 255m, M-red

I decided to stop torturing myself on blue until I’m actual in shape for
It, and it was an excellent decision because I still had some fun on this course. I am definitely limited by fitness right now without any hill legs to speak of, but using that as an opportunity to try to keep my nav clean. Mostly successful, just one bigger mistake where I drifted downhill and missed the hill I Intended to climb. Overall pretty happy with the result, and remembering after over a year that I do still love this sport .

Practice map. It was good I did this because I took off towards one too fast and without any map reading involved. Calmed down and got my head into it and had a fun time on the loop

Orienteering race 51:04 intensity: (1:55 @1) + (1:56 @2) + (11:40 @3) + (18:11 @4) + (17:22 @5) *** 3.39 mi (15:04 / mi) +154m 13:12 / mi

GNC middle, blue, 5.1km, 90m

It always amazes me that some of my most successful runs come after long breaks with little to no orienteering. I think it’s because I put concerted effort into slowing myself down, being careful, and therefore don’t make big dumb mistakes. Today was extremely clean except for overshooting the shortest leg (pulling a Sydney). Very happy with this run. Under 10/km which is always the goal and seldom achieved. Legs had no oomph on the hills, but felt fine otherwise even with the relative lack of running recently.
