http://orienteering.ca/doma/show_map.php?user=jane...Overall pretty happy with the race. Begining of the race was a result of over eagerness and not following the orienteering. Middle portion of the run was smooth and fuelled with solid route choices. Last 1/3 lost quality as a result by planning on the spot instead of planning ahead and following the plan.
Tomorrow the goal will be to follow the orienteering in the beginning with the all-encompassing goal of "Plan it" to plan the route and to always have a plan.
1. Bad route to 1, tried to go straight without having settled into the map. Went too low and worked my way back up. Next time take the safe routes while getting into the map
2. Another bad control. Wasn't yet into the terrain and bad visualization of the terrain. Next time make sure to make and follow plans in the beginning of the race
3. Self-doubt..........great control but didn't read the description. Glanced around the rootstock but couldnt find the control, got pulled to a neighboring control then finally found it. Next time read control description and have confidence when I know I've followed my plan
4. Good job getting back into things
5. Still quite a bit of hesitancy to the control. Next time once I have a good picture of the terrain follow through with strong direction and have confidence in my abilities
6. Good job getting back in things and smooth attackpoint into the control
7. Good direction exiting the control. Good visualization of the hiltop and decent after
8. Probably my saddest control :-( Knew where I was but had so much self-doubt that I had huge hesitancy that I was in the reentrant to the north. That's something that just comes with getting back into things. Next time have confidence in my abilities and when I've checked things off have faith in that.
9. Good smooth control. Good job keeping track of the reentrant and spurs. Good job visualizing the orientation of the control on the hillside.
10. Good job checking of the trenches and catching myself via visualization of the orientation of the ditch's position on the hill. Next time take the time to orient well before decent
11. Good job keeping a strong direction, using the left and right handrails. Next time make sure I know the feature that I'm running to (also a gel stop)
12. Suprised a few reentrants weren't marked as well here. Very much confused my understand of things. Next time have faith in the direction and when concerted about things, think up a catching feature
13. Smooth control and good route choice
14. Good routechoice and entry into the control. Good job actively map reading while running on the trail
15. Good speedy decent, good job building confidence by checking off water and reminding myself that there was a big hill to run to. Good job reading the roeintation of the control and having eyes up
16. Good smooth control. Certainly getting tired around now
17. Good safe route to a suprisingly green control. Next time make sure to actively map read during the trail (though this was a nice time to relax)
18. Good control. Next time actively map read while trail running
19. Good route to the control. Great job being conscious of low oxygen from the uphill. Saved several mistakes from happening on the next control. Good job accepting the trail when its available
20. Good straight route choice. Next time make sure to actively follow the route picked (didn't commit to trail out of 19, weak direction in green). Good job reaffirming position to before making some silly mistake with the trail right under 20)
21. Decent direction, Good job visualizing contours. Next time make sure to check off features (didn't noticde the trail before the control and was worried I'd decent too far but wouldn't been fixed if I hadn't checked it off when passing)
22. Alright control. Good job realizing location before running too far. Next time be willing to use the trail to help navigate to controls.
23. Good direction to control
24. Next time when feeling hesitation, stop, plan, and follow the plan. I went in without anything in mind except to find the control but no how. Perhaps a bit of a fatigue control
25. Good direction and good job having head up
26. Good job using big diteches as handrails. In hindsight I should have been more concious of my fatigue. Next time work the straight direction
27. Good direction, super tired on this control. Next time make sure to visualize control circle (wasn't sure what I was looking for)
28. Good direction. When time is available make sure to use it and visualize either the entry to the control or the control circle.
29. Good safe control. Tired
30. Good job keeping it together. Next time develop catching features to increase confidence in running speed
31. Good finish
