Orienteering race 1:11:00 [5]

ACT long champs. struggled from the start with dodgy hammy, particularly with all the fallen timber. focused on keeping the pace something sustainable without too much pain and kept trucking. fortunately the second half of the course was a bit better running than the first. got a bit wayward on the long leg to 2 getting pushed around by fallen timber, but nav ok otherwise.

Orienteering race 42:00 [5]

ACT middle champs at Carey's Caves. awesome limestone terrain. very technical, but also open and fast. My biggest mistake was pre-start - too distracted by my hammy which was being sore and shitty, and forgot my running glasses. realised when I picked up the map and couldn't see it properly. shit! at least then it made me stop to read the map properly instead of just trying to read it on the run.
generally good run, and the controls were mostly as expected. I still think 9 was on the wrong boulder cluster, and I couldn't understand the map around 13, but got everything else ok.
looking forward to the next event there!
