coottha run, back via chapel hill trails. very slow and ploddy.
ran into James coming back from ride in gap creek, and got heckled by Wendy as I ran up past the botanic gardens.

putting out controls

Orienteering race 17:23 [4] 2.6 km (6:41 / km)

Cyclones sprint at Ferny Grove high. Got the controls out early, so decided to run before the event instead of after. Somehow ended up being first starter, so had the un-fun job of turning on all the controls.

Tricky course, and it was sometimes hard to figure out where the course went. I tried to pace it evenly but still died a bit in the last few minutes.
10 secs behind James (who was seriously worried that he'd been beaten), and 1 sec behind David (lost on the run in).

Had some fun time sorting out the SI stuff at the end - the mistakes in the courses were really weird... until we worked out that Mat had swapped the labels for the long and short.

Orienteering 13:00 [4]

Sprint control picking training at FG primary, set by Ludvid. Some really tricky legs, and made harder as we had to treat all fences and light green OOB as well.

had planned to run when I got home, but somehow nearly fell asleep on the lounge room floor instead. I guess a 4hr drive back from site will do that.
eventually peeled myself off the floor and went for a plod around Anzac park.

Orienteering 34:00 [3]

street o at rainworth, set by Mat. tricky course and I'm still not sure what the best option is. it certainly wasn't the way I went, or the way Tim went. lucky for him he's fast enough to win anyway.
I ran in barefoot shoes and it went pretty well. I seem to have a trade-off at the moment between shoe choice and injury choice. normal shoes mean itb pain, barefoot shoes are tough on calves and feet.
