Orienteering race 1:10:27 [4] 9.3 km (7:35 / km)

NOL Hagaby/Long at Narrinyeri hills. Bit of slow start - ended up at the back of the pack initially, and stuffed up the controls on the first hillside (as I did the next 2 loops as well). had the loop that went north to start with - the battle through the green was a bit tough! got the rest of that loop ok. did a little better at the start of the second, but then totally messed up the control on the vege boundary at the end of the loop - I think I messed up the fences and white patches and started thinking I was too far round. figured it out in time, but ran a bit further than nessesary. got it together a bit better at the end of the last loop when running with indre which was good. ran with quite a few people at various times, but the splitting was obviously quite effective for the people I was around cos it was only ever for a few controls at a time. saw Jaz on the second loop, but didn't have a clue where I was at the time. a little frustrated with the result in the end, cos I spent about the time I was behind that next group just standing still on that first slope. need to work on that whole running+navigation thing.

Running 20:00 [2]

morning run - even darker, no hint of daylight. w/ mark

Orienteering race 14:50 [5] 2.4 mi (6:11 / mi)

NOL sprint race at keithcott farm. fun race, and more technically demanding than I expected. I was a bit hesitant at the start - just wasn't in the groove and not confident, even though the controls were really easy. once I got up the hill to the school the cobwebs were gone and I was pretty happy with the rest of the run, and hit all the controls in the school area fine.
could see I was slowly catching Al, and the too-young-to-be-'evergreen' Shannon catching me.

Orienteering race 39:22 [5] 4.9 km (8:02 / km)

NOL middle, chasing start. started with a 25sec gap to Kathryn, and 5secs in front of Indre. Indre caught me straight away, and we ran through to about 4 together - she was running too fast for me, and I dropped off a bit, and got caught by Tash. Caught Kathryn for a few controls about the same time - I think she went to 13 instead of 3 and lost a bit of time there. Had Kathryn in sight till the far part of the second loop, but then made a really stupid mistake on 12 (in the erosion on the hill) and was way too high. ended up back in a big pack then. pushed pretty hard up the hill, and went right to 15. back running with Tash, although I think there was a bit of a train spread out behind. a bit messy on the last loop - probably paying too much attention to racing Tash rather than finding controls. Smashed the hill up to the last control to avoid a sprint finish. Came in 4th, but the group behind had all caught up enough to beat me on time.

Running 20:00 [2]

morning run. still dark - just a hint of dawn on one horizon, and lightning on the other

Running warm up/down 50:00 [2]

for both races

Running hills (Anzac Park TT) 28:37 [4] 5.2 km (5:30 / km)
ahr:166 max:179

Better turn up today - Kirra, Tamsin and Clare. Ran this at about 90% this week, rather than the usual smashfest. Felt pretty flat and tired, hopefully better by the weekend.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Note
(rest day)

another visit to the osteo today to get re-aligned before the weekend, so rest day today.

got an email from jetstar this morning - our flights for easter have been changed, and neither of them work (they want us to fly home sunday morning now!). so now I've spent most of the day trying to get through to jetstar customer disservice, who then handballed me to qantas, and now I'm trying to get through to jetstar again. bastards!

Gym 45:00 [3]

training at race elements. unload week, so weights were all a little lighter. had to swap some things around cos of my finger... which is now fatter than the one next to it, and the black bits have spread so its now an all over dark purple. doesn't hurt too much - unless i move it.
