Running long 2:05:00 [3] 17.0 km (7:21 / km) +1200m 5:26 / km

First long run from our new place. Good turnout with Katelyn, Wendy, Lance, Richie and Tamsin. Did various sections with different peeps, but the last 45 mins on my own. Route was the usual start up past the botanic gardens and toilet block, where we found that the trail destroyers had turned the top section of single track into a highway. Dropped into Simpsons falls, and found a nice section of new/old track up the southern side of the creek with great views of the little gorge section. The trail destroyers had installed a horrific bridge over Simpsons falls which we all had a rant/cry over.
Everyone else took the short option home from the summit and I ran the chapel hill tracks and anzac park. It ended up a bit longer than planned. Turns out I don't need any help turning long runs into epics.

Note

spent a few hours down at moorooka looking at cars. test drove a few things, shortened the list of options and got sunburnt, but managed to survive until we went to bunnings afterwards before I had a massive hunger flat and got the grumps.

Note

Another round of adjustment at the chiro. Same spots as last time, but less force required. Pain level in my lower back and left hip is now at about a 1, down from an 8 a few weeks ago, but it will be good to have it fixed completely.

Running 45:00 [3]

Easy run in AP. Just cruised to start with but got motivated towards the end and did surges up the hills. 2 stops at the chin up bar - managed 10 in the second set, which I think is a post-teenage pb.

hot yoga. different instructor tonight and the class was a bit more interrupted. still a good stretch out. Helen turned up for the first time in months. it should help her that she lives in walking distance of the studio now.

Note

another big day of house stuff, this time including an ikea mission to attempt to fix some lack of storage issues in the new flat. Dan was easily distracted and things got a bit sidetracked looking at new sofas and dining tables. we managed to leave with only twice the amount of stuff we went for, so a success really.
I spent the arvo assembling furniture and Dan went nuts with the hammer drill and installed the bathroom vanity, towel rail, toilet roll holder, washing line and built me a desk. So much progress!

Running long 1:40:00 [4] 15.2 km (6:35 / km)

Long run from the AIS with Hanny and Mark. Hanny took us on a tour over Gossan hill and into Aranda, then bailed to see if her gym was open. Mark and I then cut across to head up Black Mt. Then we got a bit off course coming off the hill and ended up in CSIRO. Zigzagged back along Bruce ridge to the AIS (so much for running with a local!). Back not too bad, but achillies was a bit annoyed by the end.
Great to have a long run in cooler conditions. It's going to be a while before the next one.

Easy run on bruce ridge with Jimbo, Peter and Roch from the AIS. Just a cruise to remind the legs about running. Finished just as a storm hit and the first fat drops of rain started.

Yoga 1:00:00 [2]

yoga on wednesday - weird! this class has the same instructor, and seems to be the paired class to the one I do on Monday - a lot of similar stuff, but nothing exactly the same. I think it might be a good idea to try and alternate them. Lots of hip stretching - which I needed, and some handstand fun at the end. Back was good in the class, but has tightened up again since. chiro tmw.

run around anzac park. much cooler this evening and very nice to be out. token set of chin ups at the bar in the forest.
back was sore, but didn't feel particularly restrictive (compared to sunday morning). hopefully yoga tmw will sort it out a bit more.

Long run from Clares. Last one with Rachel and Mark for a while. Revoltingly hot morning and a bit of an injury fest with a busted ankle (Rachel), dodgy calf (Katelyn) and stuffed back (me). Clare bailed as well due to the heat.
Long swim afterwards, and awesome breakfast.

Evening plod around anzac park to try and combat a serious case of post holiday blues that was setting in. only 27C when I ran, but 85% humidity meant I nearly drowned in my own sweat. gross.
