Running 1:21:00 [4]

Mt Coottha suffer fest, with Tamsin, Richie, Clare, Wendy and Lance, and Katelyn, and later Dan for coffee. Combination of being really unfit, and having actually done some training this week made this run really hard. Off the back from the start. The run ended up being a little longer than planned, and foot is a bit unhappy (1/10).

disappointed not to be heading to Vic today for the NOL races. its the first NOL weekend I've ever missed due to injury.
also disappointed to see the size of the women's field - I know quite a lot of runners have a very good excuse at the moment, but surely for everyone else kooyoora + long race = awesome orienteering???

Cycling intervals (Spin) 1:00:00 [5]

at the Spin Doc. Class with Connie, who's classes have a very structured time/effort style, rather than Joe's fartlek style that uses the music more.

A build up set of sprints to warm up, then a pyramid. Start was 1min big gear sitting, 1min big gear standing, then 1min mid gear fast spin. The pyramid was then 2mins of each, 3mins, 3mins, 2 mins and 1min.
Started out too hard on the first set and the lights dimmed a little, but then backed off a bit and got through the session.

first swim training in about 10yrs. I was very slow and pathetic, but still not the slowest in my lane. wasn't sure how much I'd be able to do and it turned out that it was my hands that started cramping first.

Orienteering race 59:04 [5] 5.6 km (10:33 / km) +265m 8:32 / km

Qld champs day 2. Very sore after yesterday, particularly all the tendons in my ankles. Mostly got around ok but really struggled on the hills - up and down. Three small mistakes in a row - kept dropping down the hill to far - on 5, 6 and 7. Tried to run hard on the last few controls on the flat, but my legs were having none of it.

Orienteering race 48:20 [5] 5.2 km (9:18 / km) +190m 7:52 / km

Qld champs day 1. First run in ages and I had no idea whether my foot would be ok or how I would go running at all.
The run up to the start was a bit of a killer - straight to the top of the hill, and my lungs were burning before I got to the start.

I got around the course ok, except for one control where I was completely off on my bearing in a really flat vague area. Ran off the map and relocated on stuff that clearly wasn't mapped. I was running with Katelyn for a while here, and I'm sure she was quite amused at my stupidity.

Foot was good, but I was completely wrecked at the end.

feeling crap again. two long days in the field this week and I'm back to feeling sick.
I suspect attempting to run at the qld champs this weekend could be hard. I've been unfit before, but its now been 4 months without any meaningful training. They're going to be the longest 5k courses ever.

Busy weekend organising the OY at kholo hills. all went well and some good feedback on Alison's courses.
Still feel pretty rotten but we had lots of helpers for control collection so I just drove around while others did the leg work.

Got the mri on my foot done last night. I have the images, but not the report. I've been trying to decode the images, but really not sure what I'm looking for. frustrating!

physio called when he got the report through. "low grade stress response" between the navicular and something next to it. so good news I guess (compared to what it could have been). can do sensible training, but running to be avoided for a couple of weeks.

Massive weekend of wedding related shenanigans. There were some tense moments saturday morning, but once things got rolling it all worked out ok and it turned out to be an awesome party.

also spent the weekend trying to fend off a cold, and made it through with a little help from excess coke consumption. (which also helped with hangover avoidance). sick now of course though, and have some minor dance-floor injuries.
