Long run into the city. calf was a bit sore at the end

Friday Dec 29, 2006 #

Cycling (mtb) 1:30:00 [3]

ride at gap creek with pete, thor and jon

Thursday Dec 28, 2006 #

Cycling 1:10:00 [2] 30.0 km (2:20 / km)

Mt Alford loop

Wednesday Dec 27, 2006 #

Running 43:00 [3] 9.0 km (4:47 / km)

old mt alford rd loop, with pete.

Note

Pete and I spent the day turning a garage full of bike bits into 4 whole bikes - 1 mtb, 2 single speed cruisers and a bmx (which was a total rust bucket, but is now very bling with shiny chrome and new paint). I ended up with the cleaning/sanding/painting jobs, and pete got to take apart all the wheels etc - very messy!

Tuesday Dec 26, 2006 #

Running 53:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:18 / km)

jog with Pete.

Sunday Dec 24, 2006 #

Running 45:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)
(injured)

Another slow run - out at boonah again now.

Calf is improving significantly with some proper time off - hopefully I'll be back into it properly next week.

Thursday Dec 21, 2006 #

Running 45:00 [1] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)
(injured)

Very flat boring slow run... but my calf didn't hurt too much. Maybe proper training soon!

Wednesday Dec 20, 2006 #

Note
(injured)

Physio Thor had a look at my sick calf. Most of the muscle isn't sore any more, but its still very painful where it inserts at the back of my knee. Lots of ice and massage required, and I shouldn't cycle for a while, and take it really easy with running, and definitely no hills.

Hopefully a couple of days off and it will be better. It really sucks that I can't cycle - I really don't want to end up having to swim as cross training.

Tuesday Dec 19, 2006 #

Cycling 45:00 [3]

Quick mtb ride at Gap Creek with Thor before it got dark. Haven't been there for a while and there are heaps of new tracks - very cool and very fun!!

Monday Dec 18, 2006 #

Running 31:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:10 / km)

Easy run around the uni with a detour across the river over the green bridge (first trip - it only opened on sunday). Calf was still a bit sore.

Sunday Dec 17, 2006 #

Cycling 1:30:00 [1] 40.0 km (2:15 / km)

rode from boonah to Oma and Opa's cottage at Mt Alford with Dad, had a cup of tea and rode home.
Calf is still a bit sore - especially at the top behind my knee.

Saturday Dec 16, 2006 #

Running 1:25:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:19 / km)

supposed to be a long run this morning, but 85mins isn't long. ran from Ian's place with some of the cyclones crew. felt like crap. calves are a mess, I think I'll try and avoid any hill running for a while and see if that helps.

Friday Dec 15, 2006 #

Note
rhr:72 (rest day)

Didn't feel sick today, but definitely didn't feel right. Resting heart rate was stupidly high (usually about 40), and stayed high all day with some kinda weird chest pain. Hopefully another day off and I'll be ok - I'm sick of not training. Calves are still quite sore, so an extra day of rest should help them too.

Thursday Dec 14, 2006 #

Note

Massage this morning. It hurt lots - it hate my calves! hopefully a bit more streching will improve things so that I can go for a jog this evening.

Wednesday Dec 13, 2006 #

Cycling 1:40:00 [3] 45.0 km (2:13 / km)
(injured)

River ride with the trolls. Felt like total crap, I didn't sleep, I hit the wall riding down my street before I even met the group, and my right calf was totally stuffed - I wasn't getting any power out of my right leg and by the end of the ride I couldn't straighten my right leg and had to ride with a wonky pointed foot.
Luckily I've got an appointment for a massage tomorrow morning. I think its going to hurt a lot though :-(

Tuesday Dec 12, 2006 #

Running race 20:53 [5] 5.0 km (4:11 / km)

time trial at the UQ track with the rest of the cyclones. my first 5k track run! just as painful and boring as expected, and my time should be easy enough to beat next time!
calf was a bit sore, but I don't think it slowed me down

Running 40:00 [2] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

warm up /down for time trial

Note

Splits from the 5k - 3.56, 4.17, 4.17, 4.18, 4.06

Maybe if I can learn to pace the run a bit more evenly I might get a better time!! I just get so bored!

Monday Dec 11, 2006 #

Running (recovery) 42:00 [1] 8.0 km (5:15 / km)

very easy run out to long pocket. Calf still a bit sore, but fine to run at that pace - hopefully better tomorrow!
felt a bit flat, not surprising after saturday though!

Sunday Dec 10, 2006 #

Note
slept:14.0 (injured) (rest day)

Very tired still after yesterday, and the top of my right calf is not happy with me and keeps cramping.

Saturday Dec 9, 2006 #

Cycling (mtb) 5:45:00 [3] 125.0 km (2:46 / km) +2500m 2:31 / km

Rode from Boonah to Carrs Lookout - via Teviot Gap and back through White Swamp. Bit of an epic day, and pretty sore now!!
Great lunch at the cafe at the lookout.
Went with Wendy, Lance, Craig and Paul.

Tuesday Dec 5, 2006 #

Note

Conference field trip to the Barossa valley - although it became clear about lunch time that we really should have stayed in Adelaide and gone to the cricket. Luckily our bus driver was giving us detailed match updates after each visit.
Finished the day with wine tasting and croquet at chateau tanunda.

Monday Dec 4, 2006 #

Running 48:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:48 / km)

Skipped the last session of the conference and went for an easy run along the Torrens.

Did my presentation this morning (which I finished writing last night), I think it went pretty well - I even had answers for all the tricky questions at the end.

Saturday Dec 2, 2006 #

Running 1:28:00 [3] 17.0 km (5:11 / km)

Long run from Ian's place at the Gap - ran up to South Boundary Rd and through Gap Creek. Pretty slow as it was quite steep, and I was feeling very average as my stomach didn't let me eat dinner last night. Great swim in Ian's pool after.

Saw a snake that had been chopped into slices and scattered down the track - I recon it tried to go through someones front wheel!

Also saw a guy riding a penny-farthing loaded up with pannier racks while I was driving home - didn't look like a particularly efficient way to get around!

Friday Dec 1, 2006 #

Cycling 1:35:00 [4] 45.0 km (2:07 / km)

River ride with the trolls. OMG! it was so fast! As I discovered this morning, Wednesday was the social ride, and Friday is fast! managed not to get dropped and even managed about 90secs on the front which I was pretty happy with. Bit of a change from my cruisy rides around the Boonah countryside!
