walk 3:00:00 [1]

up the creek and back out to the car, then a detour to a waterfall for a swim. nice to have an easier day and not have to carry so much water!
drive out got a bit hectic when we learnt that there were no seats on tomorrow's flight for James, but he could get on this afternoon. got him to the airport 10mins before take off.

walk 8:00:00 [1]

from the lower koolendong down to the fitzmaurice and back up the creek that we started on. cool watching the salties hunting in the tidal mixing zone around the rock bars in the fitzmaurice.
legs and feet starting to come good - the last couple of days were very tough.

walk 8:00:00 [1]

day trip over to kimmel gorge... home of the rainbow serpent and crocodile dundee. saw several big salties on the river bank - very safe distance, and some really cool rock art. amazing place.

walk 8:00:00 [1]

sightseeing detour up to the top of the cliffs on the valley rim, then down the valley for the rest of the day, the last few hours of which were bashing through tall thick grass. Pete decided a controlled burn was in order given that the next two days were going to be through the grass, so we lit it up. probably burnt out ~20km2 over the next few days.

walk 8:00:00 [1]

over a range of hills into the koolendong valley. found an amazing gorge and had a very close encounter with a freshwater crocodile.
the last half of the day involved carrying an extra 10L of water each as we didn't know whether there would be water in the valley. pretty tough going.

walk 3:00:00 [1]

first day of Koolendong walk with James and Pete. pack bloody heavy and some pretty serious cliff lines to negotiate. found a very nice campsite on a sandbank near some rocky pools.
drive in was awesome. 4 hrs of 4wding from wadeye into the madgelindi valley. drove along with a mob of about 200 stampeding horses at one point.

Running intervals 20:00 [5]

another go at some intervals... same set - 4*1km. started well this time but tightened up a fair bit on the third and slowed down. I think I was overstriding a bit too. tried to focus on cadence and foot strike on the 4th... at least didn't get much slower. quite a warm evening again. hips tight afterwards.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

Club event at passchendale. Nice area but the map is a bit inconsistent. Gave up trying to read a few controls and just ran around till i found them.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [1]

Scoping parts of broadwater. Some awesome, some good and one section is good rock but too much regrowth.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

O training at amiens with Krystal. Sections of window and corridor, then a normal course. Did ok until i had the whole map to look at then started stuffing up. Bailed with a few controls left cos I'd run out of go.

Orienteering 57:00 [3]

Middle style course on cascades but going a bit slow. Nab was a bit erratic but the controls were really hard. Rain on the glasses didn't help. Cold.

Cycling 3:30:00 [3] 90.0 km (2:20 / km) +1300m 2:11 / km

From home to Bowen hills, then train to nambour, then nambour to tewantin via Kenilworth. Picked up my car from Dan's parents place and drive home.
Nice day out. Not too cold or windy (very happy i didn't try this yesterday). Starting to feel like I'm getting some leg strength back, which is good but does mean i can hurt myself a lot more. I'd been feeling a bit empty in the legs on the bike for a while.

Massage after.

Running intervals 16:00 [5]

intervals under a billion stars.

the last few days have finally felt free of injury pain, so decided to try some speed work. 4*1km with ~200m walk jog recoveries. first one felt terrible and was super slow, but kept focusing on getting my legs turning over and the times dropped. still a long way off good, but its at least a good start. feel like I've pulled up ok too. a little hammy tightness but not too sore.
