plod through anzac park and toowong just as it was getting dark. zigzag through the streets at the end to do some memory fieldwork for my new map.

had planned an easy hourish or so from my place, and did a run that I'm sure took about 65 mins last time I did it. except last time I did that run I was probably reasonably fit, and it was also winter. today I was very slow and although it wasn't super hot, it was very humid and yuck and i didn't end up feeling very good. got to 90mins in anzac park and walked home from there.

turns out that run actually took 87mins last time, so I don't feel so bad (except for the epic soreness)

Second run since aus champs, and I think this might actually be a good re-start. the toe did some weird clunky thing yesterday, but then stopped hurting and started moving normally. Toe was fine, thought I could maybe feel it, but maybe that's just cos I'm used to it hurting.
running sucked massively, but to be expected after doing nothing for so long.

circuit training at Connies (aka the house of pain), with Connie and Steve. Connie has an awesome gym in her garage (and she works as a PT). She clearly uses it too, cos she looks like a cartoon super-hero. Steve and I were piss-weak in comparison. As its been nearly a year since I did any real strength work I tried to keep effort levels at moderate, and not smash myself - I'd rather like to be able to walk tomorrow.

after months of feeling increasingly crappy, I finally made it to the doc and have been put (back) on a gluten free diet. four days in and things are already improving - tummy ache is gone and the brain fog is fading. a good result so far, but a bit sad that I'm going to miss out on so much wheat-based deliciousness!

long run (or not long run as it was today) from Wendy's. a big turnout, but only clare wanted to run with me. we stumbled around and moaned about being old, slow and unfit (and possibly a little hungover).
toe is still not fixed.

mtb at Mt Joyce with Dan, Nick and Chris. first time at mt joyce, although the guys have ridden there several times now. big climb to get to the good trails, but well worth it for the descents. good technical trails, all quite long, so struggled a few times to still be concentrating at the end. some pretty massive arm pump on the downhill tracks too.
new bike is good, but could do with some tweaking - setup is a bit short and a bit high at the front. awesome downhill, but not so great for climbing. only 2 crashes. both slow.
