WHAT A DAY!!

Up at Bright for the 4 peaks, rained all day, so was going to get wet.

I was helping Hanny with her group from Tasmania, and seeing that there were no course marking as the event got cancelled 4 weeks ago, we organised to run as a group, well not exactly, but sort of like a marshaled pack.

Got up the Mount with out to much happening, then on the decent, our careful planning went out the window. Bryan Ackerby was the lead runner, I was the in-between, and Hanny followed up. As we descended, Bryan stopped at the bottom of the main drop, I caught up, we checked the route, then Bryan got going again, and I sent the rest the same way, while I waited for Hanny and the rest of the group.

TROUBLE WAS, Bryan was going the wrong way, once we realised, we set out to run him down, got everybody, caught up to the 1st Group, told them we got it wrong, go back and wait at the intersection. We then set out to get the rest, got them all bar Bryan, had to call it quits, as he runs well.

Went back to the agreed meeting spot, and they group had decided to go on, BUT WERE TO!! Did a short cut to cut them of, met some other runners who told me the way they went, but they were going the wrong way. Tried to run them down, got to another junction, couldn't work out, which way they went, so decided it was enough for me, I had better get back.

Got back, and they were all there. It had worked out in the end, but at time while I was running around the Mt, I was wondering how this was going to end.

Feathertop tomorrow, I think the group has learnt a lesson, and it will all be good, fingers crossed.

Went back to the OZ MTBO to catch up with more PPL and a bit of Gos.

Got home, and decided that I had better do something myself, so contacted Toph to see if he would do the Juvy, but couldn't convince him, tried Ev as well, but he was deep in study, so had to do it all on my own ;(

Felt a bit ordinary to start with, but warmed up to it, got is down under 2min k's, so had to do a bit extra up Lawson St at the end to get the hr up

COMMUTE 40:00 [3]

OZ MTBO was in Castlemaine, and as a lot of PPL I know do it, I thought I would go down and have a gossip or 2

Rode to the start, helped out with a late starter, then had to do a puncture repair (well replaced the tube with one of mine) for a girl who didn't carry any spares. At these she got to ride, well I hope so, as I left before she finished. Then went to the finish, and back to the assembly area
2 PM

ORIENTEERING ◪ 48:48 intensity: (2:49 @3) + (38:31 @4) + (7:28 @5) 8.07 km (6:03 / km) +179m 5:26 / km
ahr:151 max:165 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 285-1

Local event at Sedgwick.

Was running late, but not as bad as Toph or Laurina.

Control 2 wasn't in the right place, but as I was told of this before I started, I lost no time. Control 7 was on a pit, but I misread the map, and searched the rocky ground near by, maybe I will learn to read the control description one day, I have been told it helps :)

Slow and Steady, Toph bet me, but not by much, I may have even been in front on the way to 7
3 PM

ORIENTEERING ◪ 27:44 intensity: (9 @1) + (5:25 @2) + (16:20 @3) + (5:50 @4) 3.37 km (8:14 / km) +51m 7:39 / km
ahr:130 max:146 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 285-1

Picked up a few controls, nice and slowly :)

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (St Georges Lake) 53:56 intensity: (58 @2) + (9:23 @3) + (39:53 @4) + (3:42 @5) 7.93 km (6:48 / km) +174m 6:08 / km
ahr:145 max:166 shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 285-1

Went to Creswick to race Dave, but he must have slept in.

Nice to run in a different type of forest, very European, Swiss/German like.
Oak plantations and Pine as well, bit misty to add to the atmosphere. Couldn't find the 8th control, but everyone else did, so was it in the wrong place, I would like to think so.

Pity more PPL didn't take the option to run in this event

ORIENTEERING ◪ (Mosquito Creek) 40:31 [3] 6.97 km (5:49 / km) +90m 5:28 / km
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite 285-1

Wasn't able to organise myself to get a start on time, so left it till control collecting to have a run.

Lovely out in the bush today, not as open as last week, but still fast enough to collect controls at under 6 min/k

Got into it well, missed 3 by a little, then nearly ran through the OOB on the way to 6, but corrected, lost a little time. Was good through the rest, lost a further 30 secs crossing the creek near the finish, couldn't find a gap in the blackberries.

Great fun, and a good course set by Blair.

Ev is the Man, 1st, then Robbie and Bruce, I was 6th, but on the wrong side of Woz
