RUN 50:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Terrain

Having been a little slack on the long run, and seeing that I'm doing a 1/2 marathon on Sunday, thought I had better get some distance under my belt.
Up SG Rd, then up and over OTH, down pass the Uni and home

Ran around the course with Bruce, checking route choices, and the places it was mapped a bit different. Was a good warm down

RUN intervals 50:00 [3]

Went to the lake to do the evening interval session, Big Ev was already there, so did 2 laps with him, then beKeely turned up, so did another lap. Then while Bryan ran his 1k's, I did 1000, 800, 600, 400, 200. so 3k to me, and 4k to Bryan. Then a lap to warm down. Good session, will need to do it more often.

MTB 1:15:00 [3] 25.0 km (3:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Bike shoes #1

Decided that I had to HTFU after a hopeless weekend, and as I couldn't find any in a can, had to do it the old fashioned way, "Just do It"

Waited till it got a little colder, wetter and windier, and set of, up DH, then KG to the main channel, then along to Harpers, back to KG, and on to SG home. Was good to get out, even if it did get a little cold at times

Sunday Aug 23, 2009 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 45:00 [3]
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

SS event at Butterfly Jim, a moderate course at its best. Had so much stuff to do with BR O9, so pulled the plug after 45 mins.

What a great weekend, went to 2 events, and didn't do much, even lost the fashion stakes )-:

ORIENTEERING ◪ 30:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Terrain

Bendigo event at Lyell Forest, got caught up talking to others, including my brother who's son has been to the 3 of the last 4 events, dont know how many more they will get to as silage season is about to start.

Consequently, I didn't get out to compete, so collected a few controls

Note

No time for training today as I had to do deliveries and go to Warragul as well. All up 750 k's. was driving home from Warragul about 300m behind a 4 wheel drive and trailer, when the wind picked the trailer up and tossed it around.

This threw the car of balance, and next thing it was cart wheeling down the side of the road, after 2 full rotations, it came to rest on its roof. By the time I pulled up and got to the car, the young bloke in the back seat was pushing the door open, and his father was trying to get from the front of the car, to the back, as the other doors didn't work.

Young bloke didn't have a mark on him, and his father had some blood on his head, and had lost a finger nail. I crawled into the car to get his mobile and wallet and stuff, and there was F*** all room in there. Bloody lucky I think.

RUN long 1:15:00 [3] 14.0 km (5:21 / km)
shoes: Nike Terrain

With Bryan, Rooey and Big Ev @ No 7 Res.

Went out along the flat, following the channel, towards Lockwood Sth, before climbing up to the top of the ridge. Headed back towards the Highway, were Rooey and I dropped back to the cars, while the other 2 did extra.

Very enjoyable day out, the sun was up, and the rain from the morning made it that bit more special of a run.

This was a run that I haven't done in 25 years, was good to check it all out again

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 41:15 [5] 6.9 km (5:59 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Had a training day in the morning, so by the time I got to the Local event, Leon had already finished, and was very keen to tell Bryan and I how well he had run. Bryan then went out and bet him by 20 secs, then it was my turn to give it a shot.

Got tired at times, and was running fairly close to the edge. In the end, I had to settle for a time 90 secs behind Leon.

Will have to take it more serious, then I will beat him (-:

Note

Had a interesting request today, a 8 year old girl wants a Orienteering Birthday, I could name the place, the time and the date of the activity, she will base her party around the Orienteering. And I get paid as well, does it get any better than that

RUN 10:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Terrain

Warming up for the 2nd relay in 2 days

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 40:22 [5] 5.9 km (6:51 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Got the call up last night to go into the 1st team, Dave had been sick, so dropped out.

Keely ran a great 1st leg, had Leon and Bruce back about a min, min 1/2.

Ev had compass problems, and thought about going of the map, this allowed MFR (Liggo) to hand over to Ruby 2.30 in front.

Never saw Ruby, would have been interesting if I got all the route choices right, as I may have. In the end I lost a extra 7 secs

MFR 1st, BG 2nd, did we get 3rd as well?

ORIENTEERING ◪ 30:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Terrain

Putting out controls

RUN 10:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Terrain

Sandown relays, watching 1st and 2nd leg going around, and getting ready for my 3rd leg

RUN race 22:57 [5] 6.2 km (3:42 / km)
shoes: Nike racing flats

Got the tag in 2nd place, with 1st out by 1.30, so while I didn't want to panic, would be nice to get a sight on him earlier than later. Saw him at 4k, and got pass just before the 1st lap (3.1k) then kept it going for a easy victory, the 1st one that the Vet 40+ team has had in a while.

MTB 20:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Terrain

It was all happening tonight, had a meeting in Macedon at 7, and had to get the map printing etc done for tomorrows event, so that didn't leave much time to train.

Wednesday Aug 5, 2009 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ 2:30:00 [2] 10.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Checking controls sites/tapes for the Oz Middle Champs, very slow and careful going, amongst occasional rain. At one stage I took refuge in a adit, as it was getting a bit consistent

Tuesday Aug 4, 2009 #

Saturday Aug 1, 2009 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 17:29 [4] 3.01 km (5:49 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Took a little longer than most to get out of the start, but it paid of, as I get the route choice right. Could hear them all crashing through the scrub as I approached 1, got out of there rather quickly, and never saw anybody.

Did it easy for a win in race 1

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 18:18 [4] *** 2.93 km (6:15 / km)
23c shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Missed the 1st, then the 2nd, lucky to see Bruce at the 4th, so soon got back in the race, trailed Bruce into the last control, but he overshoot it by a whisker, enough for me to pounce

2nd behind Toph

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 22:17 [5] 3.19 km (6:59 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Got to the 1st pivot well, then loop 1 and 2, Clara sailed pass, and made some smart comment as I was looking for 2nd control on the 3rd loop. Soon left her behind, but could see Laurina ahead, then Birchy caught me, but I was saved as He and Bruce went looking of the map, came into the last pivot with Bruce, couldn't get pass him on the loops, got to the 2nd last, locked together, but a slight miss by him on the last, let me in again.

Toph, Liggo and Laurina had already finished, but for reasons best known to them, they had gone to a wrong control, so MP

Another win to me Results and maps
