RUN long 1:32:10 [3] 18.75 km (4:55 / km)
shoes: Nike Terrain

YM morning run from the Pony club, I wanted to do about 90 mins, so ran from home, timed it that close to perfect, got there 14 secs before go time.
Started out with 13 of us, but once kEEly had got the sleep out of his eyes, he joined us and went straight to the front, numbers went to 14. Thought he was going to be the man to run Geoff down today, but G had other idea's and went to the front early, so we left him out there on his own.
The group all wanted to do a little extra at the end, but as I and K dog had run from our respective places, we trotted back down the creek and called it quits.

Note

Wanted to do the MTBO at Marybourgh, but as I have a School group tomorrow, I needed to make a map, so did that for the day. Was out mapping White Hills Botanical Gardens, where there were some kids throwing a Netball about, and as I went pass, some of them said, hello Jim. Bit surprised with that, turns out they go to Eaglehawk Nth PS, where we do a good Orienteering program. Good to see the kids enjoy it enough to remember what its all about.

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (Sedgwick) 43:19 [4] 6.8 km (6:22 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Garmin 7.9k Not much training of late, just happy to get out in the forest, and a nice forest at that. No troubles out there, so clean enough. Toph got Dave by a few secs after the later did a professional DNF by not punching the last control, but we still knew his time

RUN long 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Terrain

YM run from the pony club, 11 of us today, and Geoff was there. We thought we had him under control as he stayed near his GF most of the time, but after about a hour, he got to the front, and moved of, I was sent out to rein him in, as I didn't race yesterday, but every time I got him, there was no fun in it, so dropped back to the pack. Nice to do some surges but

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 40:28 [4]
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Bendigo series at Mandurang, I think us guys around Bendigo sometimes for get how lucky we are with nice terrain so close to home.

Made a good size blue at 2, and was lucky to get back in front of Blair, there was no way I was going to run Bryan's time, who was running very strong

RUN warm up/down 15:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Terrain

After the orienteering, went back to Mandurang Reserve, to my running club, and warmed down with Street Elite and Keely. Bryan doubled up today, but I didn't as I had organised Space Racing that morning, and was also recovering from the Primary Schools Champs on Friday

ORIENTEERING ◪ (Bendigo Primary Schools C) 1:40:00 [2]
shoes: Nike Terrain

After months of teaching Orienteering to many Schools in the area, this was the big day at the end of it all. 450 kids were registered to run, and we had remapped the Scout camp up the road from my place.

Was up early to put out the controls, then ran the start, before going out in the terrain to see how it was all going, then once the presentations and pack up was all over, went out and pulled in the controls.

I felt that there is more of a awareness amongst the kids to what they need to do, less PPL totally confused with what to do, so all in all, a very good day.

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 1:55:12 [5] 19.64 km (5:52 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

ACT Long Champs. One of my better races, but didn't get the 2nd long leg right. Ran with Hanny for a little bit, got a fastest split sometime in there. Went through Geoff Stacey, then he came back and took 90 secs out of me over the last 4 controls, and I wasn't going any slower, G must have got some extra drugs as he went through the car park

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (Sth German Track) 59:51 [5] 11.9 km (5:02 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Garmin 12.7 Started 2 mins behind Bruce and 2 in front of Leon. Went out hard as I wanted to get a gap on Leon, who can be quick if he gets it together, consequently saw Bruce at 5, was so shocked that I thought I had done something wrong, settled down quick enough and tried to run him down on the way to 6, he saw me here and quickened the pace, and I couldn't close the gap as he ran away from me up to 8.

Got Toph before 11, and Dave at 13 and thought I had them under control at 15, but a slight error at 16 and they were back, and it was to close to home to do anything, as Toph gave it another go and set the pace to the finish.

Should have stuck to Bruce, not that I could have, as he went on to win, 2nd for me today was a very good result. Will have to wait for the splits to see if I lost the race at 16

shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Bendigo event, started 10 mins behind James and caught up to him at 7, sat back and watched him do the next leg, we went slightly different ways, he had me by 30 secs at the end of this leg. Then I started to wind him in until I got pass on the way to the last, he tried to come back, but I made myself very hard to pass, so he stayed behind. Ran the last 1.5 k in 6.10

RUN tempo 46:50 [4] 10.2 km (4:35 / km)

Got back from Melbourne to late to run in the light, so ran into town, Carpenter, Mitchell, Pall Mall, Williamson, Somerville to OTH pub and home along SG Rd.

Kept 4.30k pace going for the 1st 30 mins, then dropped the pace back a tad

Tuesday May 5, 2009 #

RUN 50:00 [3]

Ran to the track, did a couple of laps of the 750 m circuit, then some 600s, was going to do 4, but I felt good so did 1 more. Ran another lap of 750 before I ran home.

Enjoyed my intervals, I know I should do them more often, but then I know a lot of things that I should do, and don't

MTB 30:00 [3] 9.8 km (3:04 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Nearly didn't go as I was procrastinating to much, finally got away at 5.30, up the ridge to DH, then back to the Golf Course, then through Solamon Gully and around the GC and home

Sunday May 3, 2009 #

RUN long 1:15:00 [3]
shoes: Nike Zoom

YM run from SG Reserve, not many today, Charles, Victor and Meredith. Charles was dressed as if it were the middle of summer, Victor as if it was Winter, I was somewhere in between. Nice morning

MTB 20:00 [3]

Easy ride in the afternoon up to the Scout Camp to check out the area for the Schools Champs. Was going to use SG reserve, but the Council has just decommissioned the toilets, so that put a stop to using it for the assembly area

shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Up and around abit

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (Mt Tarrengower) 42:42 [5] 6.4 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Felt good, got the 1st clean, little slow on 2, then got into it, made a bit of a mess at 9 when I tried to convince myself I was wrong, but I wasn't. Bit of a struggle up the hill, but quite happy with how it all went.

Big Ev got me by a couple, kEEly was also in front by a minute, with Moook 1 behind, got James by 10, he is not so good in the rock

RUN warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: INOV-8 Roclite

Went out for a little search, but as always, they return while you are out there. Took my phone with me, that saved being out there to long
