RUN 1:30:00 [3] 17.8 km (5:03 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Left my place to go and meet up with the YM group, but they were keen to go, and had left without me. Took of trying to catch them up, cut a few corners but never saw them, or any footprints, must have gone totally different way to usual. Anyway, I went out to Kangaroo Gully, and around to the back of Diamond Hill, then back through Spring Gully res, that area just gets better.

Nice drop of rain overnight, 19mm, one of the highest in the state, need another 100 and things will start looking better

MTB 30:00 [2]
shoes: Nike Zoom

Easy ride up DH and home via SG Creek

Saturday Aug 30, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (Garmin 8.28) 44:24 intensity: (5:00 @3) + (30:00 @4) + (9:24 @5) *** 7.4 km (6:00 / km) +290m 5:01 / km
shoes: Teva #2

Local event at Sedgwick, didn't want to go to hard as another run later in the day, but needed to keep it up otherwise Big Ev would get me, as it turned out, he did. No errors, only loses was when I didn't see the control tied to the other side of the tree. Caught James at the end, he was so interested in beating me to the last control, he forgot all about his exit direction. Young boys will learn the hard way. Blair did 41.27, dont know about Dave, but somewhere in the 44s as well

RUN 5:00 [3] 1.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus #1

Pry to the race, more so to warm up the body, than to roll over the legs

RUN race 19:38 [4] 4.9 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus #1

Last YM club run for the season, and as it was also in the Sedgwick Forest, didn't have to travel far from the O event to get there. Not at all fast, very slow for that matter, but the food after was excellent.

Was meant to be 5k, but it measured short

Friday Aug 29, 2008 #

RUN 20:30 intensity: (5:30 @2) + (10:00 @3) + (5:00 @4) 4.0 km (5:08 / km)

Easy run around the Golf Course, pushed it a little sometimes, nice to be running in some warmer weather at last

Wednesday Aug 27, 2008 #

MTB 43:00 [3] 13.3 km (3:14 / km)
shoes: Nike Bike shoes #1

Cruisy lap of the res in the morning, twas a little cold

RUN 55:30 [3] 10.5 km (5:17 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Around the res again, this time with Birchy and Leon.
Worse group run I have ever done, the Moook ran 20-30m out in front for the whole way, I might as well as run on my own

Sunday Aug 24, 2008 #

ORIENTEERING ◪ long (Garmin 15.67k) 1:37:09 [4] 13.4 km (7:15 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

Was trying to talk myself out of doing course 1, but when G Lawford turned up to do it, thought I may as well. Treated it very much like a long run as calves still very sore from yesterday. No real errors, nice to get it under the belt.

Saturday Aug 23, 2008 #

MTB 24:00 [3] 8.4 km (2:51 / km)

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 43:40 intensity: (21:50 @4) + (21:50 @5) 8.09 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Teva #2

O event at Mandurang, no tracks on map meant you needed to be on the ball, just kept it straight. Calves started to hurt after 3/4 way, sore now. Bike riding doesnt help

ROAD BIKE 20:50 [3] 8.4 km (2:29 / km)
shoes: Nike Bike shoes #1

Home again after O event

Wednesday Aug 20, 2008 #

RUN intervals 50:00 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (30:00 @3) + (10:00 @4) 8.2 km (6:06 / km)

Track work, warm up for 2k, then 5 laps of fronts and backs, another easy k, then another 5 laps of front and backs, then 3 laps warm down.
Did one lap with the Moook, but he was to quick for me so I let him do his stuff on his own

Monday Aug 18, 2008 #

MTB 15:44 [2] 5.11 km (3:05 / km)

Through the Golf Course to the Post Office to pick up a parcel, took a slightly longer way home

Sunday Aug 17, 2008 #

RUN warm up/down 10:00 [3] 1.8 km (5:33 / km)

Bit rushed with this warm up, undecided wether I really wanted to do this race, but decided that I was there so I might as well do it

RUN race 24:26 [5] 6.5 km (3:46 / km)
shoes: Nike racing flats

Didnt feel good at all during the whole race, no where near strong enough on the hills, and flat as a pancake on the downhill, Oh well, really do need to do some training

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 20:48 [4] 2.6 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Silva O shoes

5 mins after the road race, was in the car to Maldon, didn't get there in time for race 1, started with race 2. Had the small loops 1st, so was hard to get into stride, spent a long time at the common 1st time through making sure I got the order right. couple of mins down on Bruce

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 17:05 [4] 2.2 km (7:46 / km)
shoes: Silva O shoes

Final was a Orientshow format, people going everywhere, got a good start and was with Dave, Ev and Matt, then they all went to a wrong control and I got the lead, then I went the wrong way, but not for long, got back into and finished well, even if I did run the long way on some occasions.

Interesting format, as there are NO control codes used, so you need to know where you are at all times, watched a couple of people DNF themselves as they punched controls that was not on the course

Saturday Aug 16, 2008 #

ROAD BIKE 1:46:00 [3] 47.0 km (2:15 / km)
shoes: Nike Bike shoes #1

Went at Big Ev's early time, 11, but it was still cold

Note

Got a very bad tooth ache over night, dentist had told me pry to going O/S that it could flare, and it sure did. Into the dentist early after a sleepless night, and lucky to get a 2.30 appointment. Thinking back, it maybe why I have been feeling a little of colour latley. Anyway, feeling stacks better, just got to get through some of this work.

Hope to do some training tomorrow, as I have just entered the Oz champs, and I need to get a little fitter

RUN warm up/down 10:00 [3] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Tried to warm up, it wasn't to hard as I was wearing 4 layers, but then it was threatning to snow, and blowing a bit of wind

ORIENTEERING ◪ race 1:08:25 intensity: (20:00 @3) + (40:00 @4) + (8:25 @5) 9.76 km (7:01 / km)
shoes: Silva O shoes

Distance as per Garmin. O event at Dales Creek, didn't feel the best today, very sore from yesterday, and it was cold as well, so took it rather slowly. Only got Dave on 2 legs, one of them when he tried to run of the map. Never been here before, and as a club map, it wasn't to bad. Good to see a newcomer setting courses

Saturday Aug 9, 2008 #

RUN warm up/down 22:00 [3] 4.5 km (4:53 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Lap of the track, then up and down pit straight

RUN race 22:27 [5] 6.2 km (3:37 / km)
shoes: Nike racing flats

Ran 2nd position for our 40+ team, felt like I worked it hard, but couldn't run, anyway, a workman type effort

RUN warm up/down 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Out and about the course supporting our last leg runner

Note

Today was a big day for our team/club/region at the Sandown relays as we try to go up a level to division 1. We had our best team for the season on the paddock today, and they didn't disappoint. Melbourne Uni had won all Div 2 races this year, so we set them in our sights. Moook lead of and with a good finishing kick, gave us a 2 sec advantage, we lost our way a little over legs 2 & 3, but then Kyall started the comeback coming of leg 4, 35 secs in arrears, next it was Phil, gap was down to 5 secs and we had our fastest guy last, so it was all over, red rover. Brady went pass him in the first 200 m and never looked back. The team went on to win Div 2 by over a min, well done Guys. Div 1, here we come.

ORIENTEERING ◪ race (Blodslitet) 1:22:17 [4] 11.0 km (7:29 / km)
shoes: Silva O shoes

We started out in the middle of a figure 8, 1/2 doing one loop 1st, 1/2 doing the other, field included Bruce, Blair and Dave. I tried to work out before Go time who was doing which loop with who. At the gun, I was left alone as the other 3 all headed out on the Nth loop and I was left with the Sth. Didn't think that was fair, but proceeded to do my loop on my own. After a couple of minutes, I heard someone running behind me and thought it would be a course 2 or something, but then Dave spoke and said something like that was a bad error, 180 out of the triangle.

We continued on but Dave was running to quick for me, or maybe I was running to slow for him. After 30 mins Dave was out of sight and I couldn't be fagged doing anything, so just plodded onto the change over where I saw that Blair's blisters had forced him to withdraw. Distance 5.9k in 41.50

Continued onto Nth loop, felt a little better running at my own pace and started thinking should I go onto the last common loop, but thought the better of it and stopped after 2nd loop. 2nd loop distance, 5.1k in 40.20

ORIENTEERING ◪ (Score @ Blackjack Gully) 29:59 [4] 3.63 km (8:16 / km)
shoes: Silva O shoes

Bendigo local event set by Ian Johnson on the area he fieldworked starting with a blank piece of paper. Very interesting terrain, with many gold digging features. 30 controls in 3.6k means you dont have much of a chance to run, and with the scale at 3,750, you quickly went to far if you did run to much.

RUN warm up/down 12:00 [3] 2.4 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

After the Orienteering, went over to Mt Alexander for the CC race. Warmed up to the bottom of "the hill" that everone was talking about, thought I would leave that hill till the race

RUN race (YM CC race) 19:51 [5] 5.0 km (3:58 / km)

Club handicap series at Mt Alexander.

Started with Peter Cowell, and wondered who was going to race who, he took the early lead along the road, then I took over and tried to push the pace up to the base of the hill. Thought If I could wear the others out, then I would use my advantage on the climb. Luke caught me during the climb, but I came back at him, but he was to good on the decent and put 100m into me very quickly that he held till the finish line. Very happy with 2nd place.

For those who ran in the 1984 Vic Champs (yep, showing my age here) the top of the climb was the saddle near the start of that event, one of our club members owns the property to the NW down on the closest acsess rd

RUN warm up/down 24:00 [3] 4.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Nike Zoom

Very slowly back up to saddle and down through some nice Granite
