Afternoon ski up at Solitude with Heidi and Colin on the new powder! Waited for a while for 210 to open so that we could go to Alta, but at 11am, we bailed in favor of Solitude instead. The road didn't end up opening until 2pm, so it was the right call. Note to self: if the road is closed, just go ski somewhere else instead of waiting for it to open up.
Great snow, and I was on my backcountry setup to get some actual laps on my skis and feel the difference. My black crows are so much flimsier than my blizzards - they felt very playful, bouncy, and springy on the powder and the bumps, but I did not feel very powerful or strong in my turns or going through snow. Carving felt weak at best, almost like the tips and tails caught so it wasn't a smooth turn. They are definitely designed for a big powder day (or some park or cliff action? - didn't get to any of that today). When I finally get a replacement for my blizzard sambas, I'll be looking for a similarly stiff, powerful ski rather than something like my black crow atris birdies.
