Running warm up/down 7:34 [3] 0.74 mi (10:13 / mi)
shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Orienteering race 1:18:21 [3] 4.85 mi (16:09 / mi)
12c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Had some mistakes (wrong spur on #3, messed around in the marsh going to #4, slightly misread the entry to #9), and was slow on the hills, but an OK race. Turns out my only F-20 competition grabbed the wrong map today so it was just me all by my lonesome.

Running 35:55 [3] 4.47 mi (8:02 / mi)
shoes: Black Asics Gel-Excite 4

As we started our run, the sky looked ominous. Then a few sprinkles of rain came down. Then the heavens opened up and began dumping buckets, accompanied by flashes of lightning and booming thunder. There was so much rain it was almost hard to breathe because it kept getting in my mouth and nose.

And then to the park from Alex and Ed's place!

Orienteering 13:30 [3] 1.16 mi (11:38 / mi)
15c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Three o-terval loops, and a little bit of control pick up. My watch didn't catch most of the last loop, so I'd guess it should be closer to 17-18 minutes. This got really difficult really quickly with the disappearing sunlight! Very fun to do a weekday training in the woods though.

My stomach was absolutely rolling. Don't eat dinner right before you go run, kids. Be super hungry instead. Trust me, it's better.
I went slowly to avoid retching. But I got to talk with a cool runner from Connecticut who likes mountains and knows what both the Olympics and the Cascades are.

Climbing 1:15:00 [3]

Right after my run, I ran upstairs to grab my climbing gear and headed out to the free climbing night. Lots of fun! I'm still working on getting a V2 :/ I know it won't happen overnight but sometimes I wish it would.

Note

4 classes, 2 club meetings, and 2 loads of laundry didn't leave me with time for running today unfortunately. For sure tomorrow (and some climbing too!)

Orienteering 1:31:06 [3] 5.8 mi (15:42 / mi)
12c shoes: Innov-8 X-talon 212

Pawtuckaway meet! Drove up there with Izzy and Barb :) My orienteering was a little bit rusty for sure, but it was very fun to be back in the woods! I'm not sure how prepared I am for Letchworth next week, but I'm glad that I got to get at least a little practice on a map before then.
It was exciting to see the SART results from this weekend. Man, I wish I could have gone. In another few years I'll be back!
