Note
(rest day)

Didn't rest nor eat too well after the long run yesterday. But it was fun playing in the snow! As a result, my legs are still quite sore.

Running long (Road) 2:07:49 [2] 16.2 mi (7:53 / mi) +273m 7:30 / mi
ahr:145 max:167 weight:56.7kg shoes: Nike Air Pegasus+ 2007

10F, partly cloudy - Pig training group run from the Spot. With the time change, I struggled a bit to wake up at 6am. So I added the extra miles (8) afterwards with Brian, Craig and a few others. The turn out was decent given the conditions. We stayed mostly on major roads, which were almost cleared of snow. I ran with my Yaktrax, so footing was never an issue. But still, my hamstrings and calves got pretty tired towards the end.

weight:57.2kg (rest day)

Record snow yesterday. Level 3 snow emergency today with blizzard warning lasting till late afternoon. Still coming down pretty hard right now (9:30a) - all I see is White! Guess there won't be any o this weekend.

Strength (Snow Removal) 1:30:00 [3]

We seem to have gotten 10-15 inches overnight. It finally stopped snowing around 3pm. It's mostly dry powder, with a thin layer of ice at the bottom, but that's still a lot of weights to be moving around. My arms and shoulders are tired now.

Running (Road) 1:06:29 [2] 7.94 mi (8:22 / mi) +163m 7:52 / mi
ahr:157 max:197 weight:56.7kg shoes: Icebug MR BUGrip

25F (8F), snow shower, windy - Since we're under a blizzard warning, everything is shut down. No soccer tonight, and no group run tomorrow morning. So I donned my winter gear and went out for a neighbourhood run (Triple Crown loop). Other than the frozen precipitation and 25mph+ wind gusts hitting my eyes and face (which hurt a bit), it was a pleasant run. :) I always enjoy running in the snow, having the whole place (well, mostly, minus a few vehicles) to myself, blazing new trails. Footing was not a problem with the Icebugs, but I could've used a hat.

HR had a brief spike up to 197bpm near mile 3, in the middle of a descent. Perhaps it's just a glitch and nothing more, but this is the second time in 3 days my HR had gone above 195 during a run.

Strength (Snow Removal) 1:00:00 [3]

2 sessions, about 9 inches total so far. Perhaps 6" more still to come...

ahr:136 max:158 weight:56.7kg shoes: Brooks Glycerin 4

39F, mostly cloudy - Easy out-n-back run from the Spot to Celestial, with Craig, Mike, Brian, and Megan. It's nice that everyone wanted an easier pace, so we were able to stay together. As always, the city view from the overlooks are a bonus. Snow (6-10" expected) is a'coming, so the scenery might be vastly different come Saturday.

Running (Mixed Road/Grass) 54:45 [3] 7.54 mi (7:16 / mi) +118m 6:55 / mi
ahr:156 max:199 weight:58.1kg shoes: Brooks Glycerin 4

34F, partly cloudy - Run with the Road Hogs from Crossroads. Started out pretty tame, but it quickly turned into a MP run down Brotherton and beyond. Didn't realize it until now but my HR actually hit 199 at the halfway point! That's a new high, but strangely I didn't feel strained at the time. It came just after a 2-mile climb up Erie, and I'd been talking the whole time, so maybe that's the reason for the spike. Later on the short but steep incline up Handasyde, the HR topped off at 184. Anyway, this was a good hard run, thanks to Brian, Thies, Heather, et al. for pushing the pace.
Oh yeah, I almost got hit by a car right near the end. The driver never looked once in my direction as he approached the intersection. Maybe I should've bang on his hood and yelled at him, so that he'd be more alert in the future. But I just ran around the rear.

ahr:149 max:176 weight:57.6kg shoes: Nike Air Pegasus+ 2007

36F, light rain, occasional gust - Late night neighbourhood jaunt. I felt heavy and slow, so only managed 2 of the figure88 loop, plus a half mile cool down. A slight twinge in the R hip/upper thigh area on push offs during some uphill portions.
