Not a bad run except for one bloody control. That old chestnut. I just didn't read the detail correct, i do think partly due to my eyes (i really need to look more into running glasses or lens). Anyway it cost me about 45 sec, a decent result, and any lingering chance of the WC team.

Was pissed at seeing a competitor (who finished 2 sec ahead of me) run through an olive green area and then deny it at the finish when I confronted him. I was gonna protest but didn't in the end. He's not a regular NOL competitor but should know better. Looking at the splits from 7-8 there is one more person above me that cheated. poor form.

Areas like really need to be tapped off or have a volunteer there to catch people cheating. I was discussing it with the IOF controller and wasn't too upset with her in particular as they just did what is normally done in Aust (nothing - which needs to change) but then she said 'I cant check every out of bounds on the map' - its on the edge of the control circle! I walked away before i totally lost it at her.

Rant over.

Big ups to Brooner who realised he did this and DQ'd himself

EDIT - Don't want to take down the rant because that's what I said (rightly or wrongly) but Fletch informs that he asked to be DQd when he was back on the area with a map in hand - respect.

This was just a pretty shit run. Started ok but was buggared and never got going properly (despite trying my darndest - av HR 181) and orienteering poorly.

Not a good one. Plus it wasn't a NOL. Plus the weather was shit. Then the swans got flogged. shit day.

On a bit more reflection I only dropped 3.30 to Simon over the rest of the course which is pretty encouraging. Just need to take the two shockers out :)

Note

Well I've had just about the worst two week lead up to Aust Champs with a 60hr work week last week and the same theme this week - 16hrs yesterday and back in at 6.45 this morning! Oh well, just makes me more keen to get to WA!
