Orienteering (Easter Day 3 ) 1:02:26 [5]
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 243

I didn't have a lot of confidence going into this race, I expected to hit the wall pretty hard but I was surprised to pull out a decent result.

I caught Muz 2min at 4 after he went straight to 2 and dropped time on 3&4. We were together throughout until the second pivot. It was great have him for the reassurance and to help push me along. We actually came back into the second pivot together and pushed through to the end together with Robbie catching us through the arena.

Thought every second would count for the Stingers so pushed the finish and luckily it got a me a second in front of Keely for 7th.

9th overall isn't great but ok considering how I felt going into the weekend. It may be my best overall result since about 2006 I think.

Obviously I need to get back into some decent, consistent training but I also really need to work on the mental lapses during races that cost me time.

Orienteering race (Easter Day 2 - Long) 1:38:45 [3]
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 243

The first controls weren't bad, just working my way into the race and making sure I didn't blow too much energy in what was a pretty physical section of the map.

Didn't quite get the long leg right, I think going out to the track would have been better as the terrain just wasn't that quick unfortunately. Joined up with Patrik and Todd through here. I felt stuffed through the next few but recovered and began to feel better on the track to 10. Saw Simon coming out of 10, he didn't come past until heading up the hill to 13 and I didn't really have a chance of hanging on. Still, I wasn't feeling terrible and looked to pick up the pace to 14.

This didn't quite work out with a nice parallel error but I recovered quickly and forgot about. 16 could have been a disaster when I missed the track junction but I picked it up just in time! The rest was pretty clean and I managed to keep the pace up which was satisfying.

Orienteering race (Easter Day 1 - Middle) 37:53 [5]
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 243

Not a horrible run but pretty scrappy and felt physically weak.

Main loss was at 7, about 50sec, when I drifted coming into the termite and didn't correct we'll enough. Sloppy into 8 and especially 9 which cost me but then the rest was just slow.

Mainly just slow but losing about 1.25min on two controls didn't help.
