An inauspcious start, as I arrived at the stream crossing expecting to tip toe across on some rocks, and found a submerged bridge and a pile of limbs and trees, did a circle to find a better crossing, and came back to see Clint going across, and so followed him, tentatively. Easy W/Y controls to 3, then the going got greener and more technical. Fine to 4, but, although aiming off and then hitting the trail above 5, I turned right, but didn't go quite far enough, lost confidence, and went the other way until finding exactly where I was on the trail, and kept going back until I spotter the flag from the trail,. Staight to 6 on compass, thenj to the trail, then lost it but continued on compass through white woods to the big trail, then run up to the white control on the trail to 7. Down the hill, watching the compass, noting the shape of the slope, a bit to the south but saw 8 . Then a complete screw up, looking at the route to 10, I completey overlooked 9, and decided on a flat route across the stream, got my feet wet and was going well through the white woods, when it occured t me it was taking a bit too long, and then realized I had by passed 9!, Back north, acroos the stream, (on a well place log) up the steep slope, and got there, just as JJ was leaving. Back down acroos the stream, feet wet again, then through the woods, to the road, down the road to what looked like a flat, white woods, should be quick...but No, it had some briars and undergrowth.....got across the stream and found 10 fine, to the trail and saw JJ headed up the road to theright, and chose to go around the lake to the left, it was flat and fast, I had a slightly faster split and punched finish a a bit after him. Turns out that flat white woods was never fieldchecked......
