Orienteering race (Melbourne City Race) 42:55 [5] 10.67 km (4:01 / km) +47m 3:56 / km
spiked:22/26c shoes: 361 Optimus

Feeling pretty good for most part with just a few small time losses picking most of the traps. Not much like other urban races in Europe. Too much open running with little intricate detail. Still decent fun though.

Lost time on #5 (10 secs) - the underpass near the control was closed and started to bail when someone yelled out there was a side door, #10 (20 secs) - went the long way around the building then missed the control then stuffed around on the paths to get to it, then didn't understand what was going on at #17 (10 secs) - description didn't state which level so ran to the bottom level then up some winding stairs, #23 (10 secs) - coming off the bridge sends you into olive green, I backtracked back out but saw many others just run through it. Looking back at the map now, could have picked some slightly better route choices. Finished 10th, 7 min behind Peter Hodkinson.

Had Duncan Currie starting 1 min behind on a course you could see pretty far ahead so the pressure was on early. Lost 15 secs exiting #2 badly then ok through to #10 when I briefly lost contact to find out I overran it slightly (5 secs). Duncan then passed me at #13 and tried to hold onto him taking some slightly different routes closer to the finish. I lost another 15 secs taking a winding route to #21. Finished 12th, 3 min back on Aston Key who ran 3.30 min/kms.
