Final day at Tank Paddock.
Tried to push a bit more as it was the last race and my hip was pretty ok before I started even though I had forgotten to tape it (as I realised half way round). Quite clean, took safe routes and tried to keep up with those around me. Slow start again to warm up. Drifted stupidly on the way to #11 even though I had already been there so I knew exactly where I was going and then again on the way to #13 - definitely need to work on bearings!! Others were all quite clean.
Such a good week and was so glad to be able to run it all even though some days my hip got quite painful. It was also good to be able to practise routine and nav at a slightly slower pace than usual races, definitely learnt a lot from this week.

Day 4 at Southams Rd West.
A decent run, I was happier with it than yesterdays but according the the points it was my lowest scoring so not entirely sure how that works. Was a lot more focused and orienteering better than yesterdays. Cautious going to #3, and slow thinking, I think my brain wasn't properly warmed up yet. Slow but clean. #5 was the worst leg by far, should've taken less than a minute but took me almost 2. Overran it by a long shot then kept going for a bit, just being stupid. Too high on #9, got confused by the extra control at #10 but the rest were fine. Would've been cool to go into the sandstone detail more though.
Hip only got quite sore towards the end, I think that it is getting a bit better which is so good!!

Day 3 at the Poppethead.
Not such a great run, as I was so distracted the entire time and nav was very scrappy. Worst legs were #5 and #6. For #5 I chose the straight is great option which would've been fine had I been focused and stuck to my bearing. Ended up waaaay too far to the right and took me a little bit to figure out what the heck I had done. I need to work on not being dragged down away from hills. Going to #6 I got caught in a ton of gross green and had kind of hit the wall at the point and my brain was gone so I was just being so stupid. The last loop was better though.

Day 2 on Mining Mystery at Kitchener.
Started out slowly again but caught Meredith just after the first control and tried to push a bit to stay fairly close to her. Sore so she was running a fair bit faster than I could but my navigating was cleaner so I caught her again a few times. Tried to take routes which minimised distance as my hip was quite painful. Only real problem was on #8 where I knew exactly where I was and where I had to go but was in a bit of a pack and no body else seemed to be going in that similar direction so I started doubting myself but finally just went for it. Really fun though, just super hotttt

Race 1 of xmas 5 days!! Sprint at Islington TAFE campus.
Taking this entire week super easy because of my injuries and the plan is to focus on clean nav and just see how the running goes.
Good run, started out very easy then started pushing when I caught Meredith. Quite clean, a couple of hesitations here and there but mostly happy. Only problem was in the Christmas tree maze, where the control circle was covering a part of the maze and I thought I could get through but then couldn't so lost about 30 seconds or so running around trying to get to the control. The maze was so cool though, definitely something that should be more common!

Note

L hip seems to be fine so long as it stays in place where it clicked back into the other day. R hip muscles are sore when I run or walk but are definitely not as bad as in NZ. Doing physio/stretching/strengthening every day and also icing it a couple of times a day to try to keep it good so that I can run everyday this week. Going to take each race easy physically but still want to run most of it. Hopefully it holds up well.
