Urban Walking Navigation (touring) (Rome, Italy) 1:50:00 [3] 8.0 mi (13:45 / mi) +200m 12:46 / mi
slept:6.0

Combined distance walked for today and Sunday. Sights seen: Pantheon, Coliseum, Forum, National Monumento, and much much more! Am group navigator, so I got us to each location. In all honesty, it's not bad practice and since I did it for a long time, I'd say it keeps my orienteering skills alive.

Cross Training (Carrying Bags Across Rome) 1:50:00 [3] 2.4 mi (45:50 / mi) +120m 39:40 / mi

Long hike to hotel after night on plane, but at least we got to see the city right away. I navigates the group to the hotel as well

Up MP trail, to Radio tower, down to prep school, to lee gate, back to Pershing. Fast and hilly tempo! Great solid run before a busy summer.

Note

Summer Schedule (I won't have access to Attackpoint for most of the summer, so here's what's going down)

29MAY - 16JUN
Rome, Florence, Vincenza, Bologna, Italy & Williamsburg, Monticello, VA
I will be studying American Grand Strategy (US founding principles applied to foreign policy) abroad and domestically. I'll be able to run fairly consistently. Hopefully, I'll be able to obtain some maps (any help here would be appreciated)!

17JUN - 28JUN
Camp Smith, NY
Air Assault School - rappelling out of Blackhawk helicopters, among other military skills (obstacle course, rucking, etc). Pretty physical--no time for personal training. No orienteering involved, but lots of pushups and such for the beginning portion!

1JUL - 26JUL
Camp Buckner, NY
Cadet Field Training - general training for my entire class, which includes firing field artillery (mortars), clearing rooms, setting up patrol bases, and involves a decent amount of rucking. Land navigation (orienteering) will be involved! I expect run, swim, and cross train in some of the down time.

After that, I'll be home for 2 weeks to train before WUOC! Will make effort to post as much when I can, but thought I'd explain my absence now rather than later.

And, to all who read this far, please congratulation Charles Whitaker, Zach Schroeder, Donny Leblanc, Andrew Mitchell, Teddy Fong, and Mckensie Hudgins for graduating! Go Army go USA!

Cross Training (Walking) 3:00:00 [3]

Assigned to ticket duty for graduation. Walked up mountain then basically stood for 7 hrs, which is actually much more uncomfortable than it sounds. But since I don't want to put down 7 hrs of training, I thought 3 would get the point across.
