Event: DVOA Fair Hill (1:15,000)
 

Walking the Orange course at the Mid-Atlantic Champs at Fair Hill. I carried Inara in her backpack, and Barney pulled. A nice course on a nice day. The main time losses were trying to avoid some of the nasty vegetation at 2, 3, and 8 (Inara only got whacked in the face by a branch once, as far as I could tell. Unfortunately, that happened right as we were being passed by her mother...), as well as Barney stopping to poop on the way to #1.

The Mid-Atlantics are a really fun event. It's great to see some club spirit, rivalries, and a relay - things we badly need more of in US orienteering! I was bummed not to run the relay. Definitely hope to be back to running in a couple of weeks.

Family hike in Rock Creek! We tried to go for the full circuit, covering the length of Western Ridge Trail and then back up on the length of Valley Trail, but construction just north of Peirce's Mill cut our effort short. A great hike nonetheless, and a good goal left for another time.
