After a nice lunch in Highland Falls with Becky and Ali, drove over to Kanawaukee Circle, relaxed in the sun for a while and waited for the cavalry to arrive. We were joined by z-man, Kseniya, and Greg, and then Ross, whose release from the junior training camp for a couple of hours was my reward for driving to Worcester and back. :)
We first did a control pick on Hogencamp, which I really enjoyed. Was very jittery in the beginning - a lot of starting and stopping and no flow, but orienteered better towards the end, forcing myself to look at the map first and make plans before running off. Orienteering in Harriman is such a pleasure, especially on a nice, sunny day like this!

Final session of the day was a pairs memory exercise on Pole Brook that Becky planned. I ran this with Greg, taking turns memorizing legs and saying out loud what we planned while running. Really great training, forces you to form a detailed mental picture of each leg. Greg was very impressive, including remembering details in the circle extremely well. The old goat's still got it.
After the training, a great dinner and nice evening at Sergei and Kseniya's. All in all, an excellent day.
