Note

The net financial effect of this weekend may actually almost be a profit, as we got a $250 travel voucher from United for losing our bag on the way to Milwaukee, followed by two free tickets anyway in the lower 48 for volunteering to be bumped on the way back home on Sunday. Score.

Running 19:34 [2] 3.56 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Rob's shoes

To/from the gym. Legs felt really light and quick on the way home. Weird.

T.rex training 1:00:00 [1]

Strength at the Payne Whitney. Gotta get a sprint map of Yale made so I can start organizing beginner events around here.

Note

My futility at the US Champs in M21 continues. If anything, this weekend is motivating to get my butt fixed and get back to actual training so I can (a) be able to shadow Ross during training and (b) win the US Champs at least once and join the select list that includes PG, Eric B, Eric W, Feet, Swampfox, Spike, BMay, Balter, Zhyk, and a few others.

Next year will be the first year we will have both a Long US Champs and a 2-Day Classic. This is absurd. Some people feel strongly that one is better, others feel the other one is better, but there cannot possibly be anyone out there who thinks having both can be good for competitive US orienteering. I sincerely hope this is only a one-year experiment, and one or the other championship emerges as the only one standing in 2011.

It occurs to me that I've run a lot of US Champs. Anybody out there run more since 1993?
