Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas - Arcanum, Ithaca, Lewisburg areas. Dodged more storms on the way home.

misc yard and garden. dug out another dead tree, planted a couple more saplings, turned over a little more of the garden and got a few things planted. First-ever having a red-headed woodpecker come to my bird feeder, and there has been a prairie warbler calling for 3 consecutive days.

trail running 31:00 [2] 2.7 mi (11:29 / mi)
shoes: Lightfoot

slow run at Miami Natural Areas, partly due to very wet/very sloppy conditions and partly due to adjusting to "minimalist" footwear. Gravelled sections of the trail were decidedly noticeable (as in "ouch") through the thin soles.

Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas. northern Preble County. The new Peble County Park (north of Lewisburg) is bigger than I thought it would be. Woods are pretty green, but a good trail netowrk would make a nice white course for beginners. Highlight of the day was a practically nose-to-beak look at a Baltimore oriole.

Sunday May 22, 2011 #

walking 2:00:00 [1]

OBBA at Hueston Woods State Park. Lots of good birds. Some nice surprises (migrants) included a red-breasted merganser on the lake, mourning warbler, and yellow bellied flycatcher.

orienteering 49:01 [4] *** 3.9 km (12:34 / km)
14c shoes: Jalas hi-top 2010

"Brown" course at Grant Park, Cnterville, OH. Set by Steve Barnhart.
