Bassendean, first ride on the new beemer. For the first 10kms or so I was thinking 'this is harder than it should be'. Was only in Eco mode but couldn't really feel any assistance at all, so tried Norm, then High - no change! I stopped, took my sunnies off and was immediately able to see a tiny error message on the display unit. Turned the battery off and on again, message gone so pressed on the pedals and whoosh! - 25km/hr almost immediately, felt the motor cut out at 25 but had no problem maintaining that speed, and the motor comes back as soon you drop below it. Tried the Norm and High levels - even better acceleration, but I'd say that Eco is ok for most roads around Perth and conserves the battery. And it hadn't really been that hard pedalling without assistance on the flat or even over small hills, the bike only weighs about 4kgs more than the other beemer. And it really picks up speed downhill with the extra weight. I won't have to worry about getting home if the battery ever runs out. Only used the 4-5 highest gears, guess I'd have to go to Switzerland to use the giant cog.
Got some admiring looks and some questions at the cafe, then whizzed up and over Lawley mountain to home.
