Event: UWA

Orienteering race 19:58 [4] 2.5 km (7:59 / km)
ahr:134 max:143 spiked:8/14c shoes: Inov8 X Talon 212

NavDash race at UWA. Went to 5 and 4 before 3, didn't read the lines correctly. Had to go back to 4 and 5, probably an extra 500m. A few other wobbles.

Running 54:15 [3] 9.18 km (5:55 / km)
ahr:132 max:159 shoes: Asics GT2160

Hyde Park laps/8s. Tried to run below 125bpm but there was something wrong with either the HRM or my heart - on the first lap HR jumped to over 150, and couldn't get it below 140 for another lap. It then varied between 135-145 for another lap. Finally settled down and read 125-128 for the last couple of laps. I suspect it may have something to do with the major power line running through the park. Certainly didn't seem like my heart was ever beating that fast.

Event: Mt Billy

Orienteering race 1:01:19 [4] 5.2 km (11:48 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330

H3 at Mt Billy, giving running commentary to Ron M, stopped a few times to show him subtle features on the map. Lost a bit of time at 4 and 8 which were cliffs only 100m apart on the same steep slope. In both cases I couldn't identify features in the 100m before the control, and mentioned this to Ron. At several other controls I got to the circle but couldn't see the feature the control was on, but Ron must have eagle eyes because he quickly spotted the flag every time. He's pretty fit too!

GPS distance was 6.3km. Reasonable navigation for first time in the bush since October!
