running 46:00 [3]

Drove up to the Gats for a run with my dad and I was a little grumpy in the car, but once we got out on the trail, I was jubilant!!! I felt sooooo much faster since I was at much a lower altitude than I've been running at for the past 2 weeks. Left my dad in the dust on the hills and finished the run mush earlier than expected. Oops... :P

Note

Had to leave this morning which was really sad cause it was also a party and a half traveling in a van of Americans. I even miss all of their Canadian jokes...almost.

orienteering race (night-o) 1:19:00 [5] *** 7.6 km (10:24 / km)

I dunno if I was actually running faster, or if it just felt like it because it was dark, but it felt as if I was flying through the course compared to the blue courses I had run on the weekend. My light was like a measly about to die lightbulb, so it was nice when one of the runners with the car lights strapped to their heads were behind me, cause they lit up the whole forest!!! The start was a little rushed cause I forgot to clear and punch, so the the start thingymadooer wouldn't beep when it was my start time. Had to run back through the crowd to find the clear and check and then back to the start box and then to go pick up my map. Holy macaroni!!!! :P Didn't make any horrific mistakes, although I was close to doing a few. I kept trying to run while reading ahead, but that always resulted in tripping over or into a tree, or falling into a depression of off a cliff. Maybe I'll work on getting one of those car lights to strap to me head...I could even get blinkers!!!:P:P I think I ended up 2nd in F elite after a Norwegian runner, which makes me happy.

orienteering 2:15:00 [2]

Field-checked my training event, picked up my controls, and then ran the 3 other training events. A simplifying exercise, aiming off, and a reversed line-o. Lots of fun.

running 1:10:00 [3]

Not totally sure of the time, but it was either an hr or just over it. Started out doing an Indian Run as John calls it which I really enjoyed. I've never done something like that and it was a blast, except for the part where Nate kept steering my into the bushes.

orienteering race (classic) 1:45:21 [4] *** 13.5 km (7:48 / km)

Ran blue again today since the two classic courses are combined, that's my excuse anyways. It was my longest o-course ever not including the rogains and adventure runs that I've done. It was really boring running through the fields and was a lot like yesterday except longer. Did a 180 degree error trying to get to the water control, but fortunately fixed it before I got too messed up. Tried to push it a little more in the fields and trails, but again, I had to walk up some of the hills cause it was so draining. John beat me by about 20min, but I beat Mike :P I think my overall time was 3:19:00 whereas the wining overall time was just over 2 hrs...hmmm I'll work on that :P:P

orienteering race 1:33:52 [4] *** 11.0 km (8:32 / km)
22c

I ran blue...I can't believe it, but I did!!! I didn't mean to, well actually I did. Ok, I got to the start, and was looking at the start list, and I noticed that all of the elite women were registered as running blue. So just in case they actually did, I blue as well. A lady even showed me another start list naming all of the people on each course, and I was under blue, so I started out of the uber long course thinking that I was running the right course. Well, I got back after an hr and a half and I find out that I was actually supposed to run Red. Oh well, I had fun on the course and I get to see how I'll place overall within M21. :P:P
Felt really sluggish out on the course, and was way off my bearing on the way to control 2. Like waaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off!!!! Leap frogged the rest of the course with another Blue course runner, but I pulled away on the last 4 or 5 controls.

ultimate 45:00 [2]

Instead of going for a run, we played a game of ultimate in bare feet as cross-training!!!

running tempo 45:00 [4]

We drove out to a reservoir in some town I can't remember the name of, and it was pouring rain while we were sitting in the van. We had been there for about 5min before we just gave up waiting for it to stop and faced the pouring rain for a rather speedy warm-up run. We did 7.5min out fast, and then 7.5min fast back. It was pretty much uphill most of the way out, which made it nice for the way back!!! Out cool-down run was fine until it started pouring again, and then HAILING!!! That really stung... got back totally drenched and had to change and squish back into the van all damp. Fortunately dinner at an IHOP made everything all better.
