Whitewater Kayak (Adams 33) 2:00:00 [3]

Back up again. Not as much play at high water so a quicker run. My arms are knackered.

Burt working on his low brace (that coach urthbuoy had been preaching) during a surf session.

Note

Twice this year, a chance to guide the Grand Canyon has come up. This second offer may need to be acted upon.

Whitewater Kayak (Adams 33") 2:30:00 [3]

The river was back up and cold again, but the largest group I've seen on the river in some time and a fun day. Finally picked up a Pelican Case for the camera so it came along on the trip and H. took most of the photos alongside the far shore while she was hiking with the dogs.

When we got to the gorge we ended up eddying out with a swiftwater rescue class. Two of the members were wary of taking their inflatable through the gorge so I volunteered B. and I to run back up after our run and take their boat through for them; thus, saving them a portage vs. just a walk. The gorge decided to give me a thorough spanking in my boat - the duckie was fine if not a little cumbersome trying to line up.

Our group had a few newbies and/or infrequent paddlers so we ended up with a swimmer at the rooster waves (2nd swim). Gave chase and it took a bit to get everything/one back to shore. Rooster waves were going off so I walked back up to put in and get back on them. H. and the kids were there to cheer me on:-).

The rooster wave was nice, but it was very hard to catch due to the eddy line and our small playboats' lack of hull speed. I was good for about 1:4 for snagging it. Wore myself out pretty good on this before calling it a day.

Note

Failed gym attempt. I had tweaked my neck the other day and then re-tweaked it last night. Tried a few weights then pulled the plug. Outta be a fun day.

Running 43:33 [2] 7.5 km (5:48 / km)

Way too warm and muggy for the am - must be Ontario's fault for that kinda weather.

Whitewater Kayak (Adams 31) 2:30:00 [3]

Back on the river. The rooster waves were going off so had a long play session at the end.

I'm calling this geothermal day as BC now has our new carbon tax come in today and it appears to be free advertising for us with the phone calls coming in.
