course was really easy however it was thick and slow at some places
Note
I understand there is concern about my running. No need. The running I am logging on AttackPoint is the running I am doing everyday for Cross Country. This is my 3rd year on a HS XC team and Track and Field team (Distance event). My HS consistently wins the XC state championship, thanks to a terrific coach, Ben Dehnke. I am in good hands.
It is true that not all high school coaches have their kids’ best interests at heart, so I want to say something about Coach Dehnke’s philosophy. He rarely bothers with competing at the national level, because he believes that the training required to do so (100-mile weeks, for one thing) is too much for a teen, physically and mentally. Those runners often burn out by their 2nd year of college.
When I have questions or want to check on something my coach has said, I consult my (much older) cousin, who is a certified running coach and has been featured in Running magazine. He is married to a former professional triathlete, and two other cousins and an uncle are triathletes.
