Placing controls for the courses I designed at Illick's Mill.

Turned the carnsarn GPS off for a bit - as you can surmise, flying is not in repertoire.

Picking up controls at Illicks:

Found some potential new interesting areas for future control placements for the scouts and such....

Walking warm up/down 48:16 [1] 3.14 mi (15:22 / mi) +43m 14:45 / mi

Decided that it has been a sluggy day, so I went for a stroll apres O. Included the Liberty High School Cross Country course (which I noticed while placing and picking up controls). It runs through Bethlehem Muni Golf course, so I needed to be careful not to be hit by a golf ball.

Interesting articles in the Atlantic Monthly to pass the time - how the NFL is fleecing taxpayers.

Shuttling Dad around in the afternoon for the last of his surgeries (hopefully), so I worked at home in the morning and took time to melt 800 kcal.

Orienteering race 1:25:56 [3] 4.62 mi (18:36 / mi) +245m 15:58 / mi

Orienteering at Han's Luxury Forest! I enjoy the beauty of the park, even if the brambles and questionable route choice slow me down. To honor Hans Nolde....Hier ist, wo ich mit einem Zweck gewandert ....

Analysis Paralysis:

ein) wended to field via trial and wood. Misread map ad bumbled for a minute or so too far north.
zwei) to my favorite little valley in the park. Pounded through the pines and then followed the valley upstream
drei) my RCI here. Pounded northward through the thick. Thought I was one trail further north and started to look for connector trails to the west. Ended up realizing I was on the southernmost trail and took the long. Tried to attack off of a bend, somehow curved back around and ended up on trail again. Discipline! Eventually found it.
vier) I liked this one. Stomped downhill, crossed creek, angled up to trail and the summit to find the crag and control to the east.
fuenf) Painful - many a bramble and false findings of rocky area on the way. Eventually spotted off in the distance I was heading
sechs) Sick of brambles, went to the trail that goes to the highest point in the park and then wended back down to another very brambly thick area. One of the folks running red mentioned that the vegetation has 'really grown up' over the years.
sieben) A bit of a partial backtrack - trail was so much faster than brambleville today to the area of a very pretty valley.
acht) Mostly trail running (well, jogging in my case) until the mansion and then across to the back of a field to find
neun) Back towards the mansion - pretty easy
Dad Ende) Ambled downhill at a southwest bearing until I came to the road and enjoyed the celebratory streamer directions to the finish.
