Fun day orienteering in the summer swelter, so I tried to slow it down a bit. The course setters did a fine job running us through chest high grass and down creeks, a first ever experience for me - the creeks were refreshing. Thought my time was probably not the best, it is all part of the learning process. :-) Got faked out by a train crossing going from 6 to 7 and had to backtrack. Although I felt heartened that one of the local elite had the same difficulties on the last control that I did and I was able to keep pace the final leg. I did not have the RCI I had up at Hickory Run, thankfully.
For the enthusiasts, I present this until the route gets gadgeted. Turned on the GPS early, but at least I did not forget to do it at race start. :-)
