One of the great things about my new domicile is that it's about a hundred meters from the I-90 bike trail; it was super nice out today so I went for a foray across the bridge and around ye olde Mercer Island loope. Many cyclists about, so lots of opportunities for impromptu competition. It may be time for a crash six-week training regimen - racing myself into shape by default seems to have been the plan thus far, so I'll just need someone to organize six more consecutive three-day orienteering weekends. Thanks in advance.

FlyIng Pig, Day 3. Very sprinty middle distance course, but more interesting than the previous day's. I felt surprisingly good physically - better than the first two days, in fact - and orienteered well except for taking the wrong binary route choice 4-5. I was well motivated by Greg starting 4min behind me, and was pleased to not be caught. Overall, an encouraging result.

Flying Pig, Day 2. This one took place at an old golf course, so unfortunately it mostly entailed running across flattish open fields; not a particularly interesting venue. Could make a good place for night-O though.

Flying Pig, Day 1. Kind of a funky race; the venue today was a sculpture park consisting of a hilly network of open lawns with big art installations and a few roads and buildings, surrounded by forest of different varieties. The first five controls took us through some very janky medium green hillsides, while the rest was fairly straightforward, skirting around and through the developed areas. I had a pretty good race, just a few small route choice inefficiencies, and got the Bonesaw by ~1.5 minutes, but was crushed by Gswede once again. I'm at the point where I expect to be ~15% behind Greg even on a good day; I think the only other NA orienteers that have reached this status in my mind are WillC and Damian. But Greg is our Champion!
