Classic Champs, Day 1
Given my recent inability to run/train due to a marginally functional hamstring, I didn't have any realistic expectation of challenging Gregory or the Almighty Bonesaw at the Classic Champs, but as it turned out I had a good, solid race on the first day and was in the mix. Looking at the splits I was even able to approximate their speed for about 40 minutes before their superior fitness showed through and I started to lose substantial time each leg. Still, an encouraging sign that all may not be lost and there may yet be hope.
I lost small bits of time in a couple places, namely 6, 12, and 15, but nothing more than 20-30s. The forest was fast and open and quite pleasurable to run through. Strangely enough the terrain reminded me of the Interscholastics in Texas in March, especially the latter part of the course when the forest wasn't quite as wide open and the greenbriar a bit more prevalent.
