Adventure Race race 3:00:11 [4]

Frozen Foot at Willowsford. Supposed to do this with another guy, but I guess he bailed after showing up, so I went solo. Course was run bike run bike run with a few challenges thrown in. Each leg was its own rogaine. First leg was 5 CPs. Hit them all clean. Moved from 3rd to 2nd with a quick TA. Bike was a mix of road and single/doubletrack. Hit the first challenge, which was to carry 3 small hay bales. Made a mistake with the lake CP, thinking the lake ended at the tree line. It didn't, and I backtracked down the hill. In TA, learned of a bonus CP on the way back to the finish. Back on foot, got confused in this stream/trail/powerline convergence. Hit the first CP then thought I was going to the next but realized I had overshot it. No worries...I continued on to the next stream and hit the furthest CP out, then got the missed one on my way back to the other side of the powerline. Still burned about 5 min in that section. The last 2 points were straightforward. One of them was out of place because the bearing wasn't even close. Several others said the same thing. Good thing it was on the far side of an open field, and I could just barely make it out from the other side. The solo in 3rd was right behind me punching the last CP, so I hustled back to TA and booked it out of there. Hit the bonus, then found a shortcut but missed the other shortcut Id seen on the way out. Near the finish were the other 2 bonuses. One was a tube challenge...nice and easy. The other was roll a big hay bale down and back. Over 100' each way. Yikes! Luckily, we were allowed to enlist help from the random kids in the field. 2 girls helped me. Made a big difference. Slow going by myself. Wanted to puke after. Finished the day 2nd overall to TJ. Felt good. Got to hang with lots of Rev3 peeps after. Need to spend some time on my IT bands.

1st in on a working fire. I stretched a line around the back of the house and manned the hose line solo. Awesome when your job is a workout. On scene 2.5 hrs. Not much sleep. I even saved the cat :)
