Actual Distance Traveled: 6.5 km

My Garmin stopped recording data at some point midway through orienteering so the actual distance is an estimated guess.

I provided orienteering instructions from 11:30 to 12:30. There was a 750m walk to the start. Considering when I started (1 PM) I didn't think I would have enough time to complete a longer course and my performance seems to indicate that I guessed correctly.

Walked from Paddy Barry's to the Tyson's Corner Metro Station. Unlike the last cribbage meetup I didn't win any games. I got skunked once, in the second of four games I played. A couple of my opponents had 24 point hands; I think my best hand was 16 points.

I had a longer than usual ride from Tyson's Corner in to DC due to last minute single tracking. What usually takes an hour took more like an hour and 25 minutes.

I bicycled home from GAP on what seemed like a defective bicycle. It felt like I wasn't getting as much out of the gears as usual. At first I thought it was me, that I was tired, but about halfway through the ride the bike started to make this awful grinding noise. I wasn't anywhere near a CaBi bike station so I just kept pedaling. The noise stopped after a couple blocks but I couldn't detect any changes other than that. After I parked the bicycle at my destination bike station I pressed the button to indicate that the bicycle was in need of repairs.

Note

There was a problem on the Orange/Silver line and it took me an hour longer than usual to get from Columbia Heights to Greensboro. The metro portion of the trip took 2:07:42, the whole trip took 3:11:08. I hope that I don't come close to breaking these records anytime soon. My previous record longs, 1:14:39 (metro) and 2:14:36 (total), were set on Nov 10.

I am grateful that I did not get stuck outside, at an above ground platform.

Bicycled home along Elm Ave. There are four steep block long climbs in this segment. It felt like I was pushing myself a little too much. I think I will go back to my old route, which isn't as hilly, from DTTP to home; at least for a couple days. I think the Elm Ave route should just be tried a couple times a week until I get accustomed to it.
