Stretching 20:00 [3]
rhr:70 slept:7.0 weight:142.6lbs

12 PM

Orienteering 2:43:32 [3] 6.5 mi (25:10 / mi)

Lake Accotink - Red
19 controls; 7.4 km; 285 m

Actual Distance Traveled: 10.5 km
Actual Climb: 314 m

Not a great day of orienteering. I made a number of orienteering mistakes, although none of them were huge. I tripped, fell, and got tangled in some barbed wire from a downed fence. I ripped one of my pant legs which may have happened when I tripped and fell or while wading through thorns.

I find the Lake Accotink map to be a little problematic, mostly because with the exception of some of the bigger and more distinct trails it is easy for me to get mixed up as to which trail I am on. To be perfectly honest I ignored the smaller trails on the map and navigated using other, larger terrain features when on those trails.

All in all I am still glad that I went. It wasn't a terrible experience.
3 PM

Orienteering (Control Pickup) 1:14:35 [3] 2.5 mi (29:50 / mi)

Lake Accotink - Control Pickup
10 controls; 2.7 km

Actual Distance Traveled: 4 km
Actual Climb: 90 m

Not too difficult but somewhere between finishing the red course and finishing control pickup I misplaced my ePunch. :-(
4 PM

Hiking 43:56 [3] 2.0 mi (21:58 / mi)

I walked back into the woods at Lake Accotink to retrace my steps and see if I could find my ePunch. Unfortunately I returned empty handed. :-(

Not sure what's up but I've gotten more conscientious lately about stopping for red lights and stop signs, even when there isn't any traffic to prevent me from going ahead. It is reflected in my overall times since I haven't been tracking stopped time.

Philadelphia Ave was open but part of Carroll Ave was closed this morning. Detouring around the work wasn't too time challenging but it almost certainly lengthened my commute a wee bit.
10 AM

Bicycling 23:00 [3] 4.6 mi (5:00 / mi)
shoes: MMV14:b

A headwind (especially along 4 Mile Run) made this trip a little more work than usual.

That two block long hill right near the end of this ride seems tougher than the much longer 0.65 mile long climb up Arlington Ridge. I'm not sure if that is because it is steeper or because it comes near the end of the ride.

Philadelphia Ave still closed at Carroll Ave which results in a bottleneck as the lane of cars that want to turn on to Philadelphia are forced to stay on Carroll Ave.

A - 21:20 - 3.5 miles - 6:05/mile
B - 8:15 - 1.5 miles - 5:30/mile

Bicycled from GAP to the bike station across from Mark's Kitchen; from thereI walked to the CVS on Carroll Ave, bought some stuff, and then walked back to the bike station; I bicycled the rest of the way home from there. It was almost 19 minutes from the time I got off the bicycle until I got back on it.
