Orienteering race 28:54 [5] 2.4 km (12:02 / km)

Started with course 2. I have been practicing running to the circle on the map and blocking everything else out. It has improved my speed. When I get to the circle if I don't see it than I look at the clue sheet, otherwise I punch and move on. I ran into a problem in that I skipped control 12 and ran straight to the finish. This cost me 1:18 in going back and punching 12 and coming back in to finish.

I ran course #1 second. On this run, I ran from 10 to 14 skipping 11, 12 & 13. This painfully point out my new method is not without flaws. So I will need to refine my method.

I reran course 1 over again from the start. Given the humidity and heat, I was drained. I did the whole course with one major error. On the way from 13 to 14, I ran past the library and went around the Auditorium thinking it was the library. When I went around I knew immediately where I was. But it was a 1:33 error.
Overall my new method is helping, but I need to refine the technique.
My conditioning now has me doing an old man jog for 5 K. I need to add another 10% on the speed over the next 6 months.
This leave me with two items to be working on - conditioning and perfecting my new technique.
