Orienteering race 30:25 [5] 2.8 km (10:52 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Left calf continues to heal up and is stronger every time out. It felt good tonight. My best leg was 4 to 5. AP showed time lost to contol 10 and 11. On control 10, I was at the right tree just did not see the control the first time around. On control 11, stopped at the wrong tree. Being the first one out I noticed I was beating down alot of the brush getting back to the control. When I was picking up some of the controls, there was an elephant trail to them.

Navigation has improved to where, my conditioning is now the big drag on time.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [2] 3.45 km (20:17 / km)

Walked the sprint course at Cox Park. There's just no substitute for visiting all the control locations for a meet. One of the places I wanted to place a control had a Yellow Jacket nest you had to step over to get to the control location. I was also able to greatly minimize the amount of poison ivy you had to cross, very little now. Park was very crowded!

Orienteering race 20:02 [5] 2.2 km (9:06 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

The great weather had gotten me in the mood to do an Orienteering Race on Saturday before the heat returns. The closest I could find on Attackpoint was in MI. So I looked at OCIN's website cause I thought maybe Mike had listed a meet somewhere in Ohio. Saw the meet in Oxford, a quick posting on Facebook - OLOU yielded 3 for the trip, but Laurie had to back out. Oxford is a 2 hr trip but it was much better than MI.

OCIN Campus Sprint at Miami U at Oxford. Was able to keep map contact the whole time. The map was a jewel. Enjoyed the course, well laid out. Matt had posted results already so it confirmed what I thought no time lost.

Orienteering race 41:46 [5] 2.9 km (14:24 / km)

This was the second course at Miami U. Part was on the campus then it plunged to a large creek with a couple of wet foot crossings for me. I kept map contact except for 3 to 4. I don't know what happened there. I was on the campus and don't know why I had any problem at all. Alot of this course was in the forest. Ran well but was tiring after the hill climb back up the hill.

Per the AP analysis I did lose over 3 min of time. Almost all on 3 to 4. Also lost a few seconds on 9 to 10. I never saw a trail and ran through the woods on a bearing came out right at a dam. Must have been a trail. On 14 to finish it also shows me losing a few seconds must have been the route choice on that.
