Orienteering race 4:07:28 [4] 14.62 km (16:56 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Started off scared to death because of what I had done on Friday. I had told myself before I started, that no matter what, I was going to punch all the controls. That resolve was quickly tested after I made an incredible error on the leg from 1 to 2. I went so far past control 2, missed it by 100 meters too low, that I had trouble relocating. Wandered around for what seemed for ever until I finally found myself looking down at Landis Lake.

I pushed on and continued on the course I really enjoyed the long leg from 4 to 5, I had to constantly think about what was the best route choice. I made another bad blunder on 8 to 9. I think think I used the wrong compass direction, may have not had the map turned right, It's the only way I could explain where I found myself when I relocated.

On the way from 12 to 13, had bad cramps in my legs. I drained my camelbak. An really dogged it from there on in, just so I could finish.

I had the distinction of having the highest time of any male runner that finished the course. That was discouraging, but I realized the errors I made were correctable and would greatly improve my time.

Peter sat down in the cabin and went over the course with me. Another great training time.
