First time orienteering in the us. Red course at classic champs. I had no disasters and felt in control most of the race. Last week I was wishing my fitness would hold me back and today I got my wish. It was a LONG course and lots of long legs. I am excited to go again tomorrow.

Ended the week on a happier, more fun note. Still not perfect, nor close to good, but found a way to enjoy the course. Ended both 5-days without mispunching or dnf-ing. :)

Well. Today was another day. Three good things from today's course:
1) I got 1 really well.
2) I finished. This one is big. I wanted to quit on my way to 2. I wanted to quit the whole time. I had more double digit splits than not. I was lost and frustrated almost the entire time. I had to relocate several times on the way to 10, including relocating off of number 11. (I had 11 controls). But I finished. No mp or dnf for me.
3) The longer I am out the more I get to count as having "trained". My hours go up the worse I do. A small victory, but one I will accept.
Tomorrow is the last day of my foray into an A class. May or may not do it again soon.

Forgot my compass and SI at my bag, remembering 9 minutes before my start. Sprinted down and jogged/hiked back up just in time to make it 2 minutes before my start. Oops.

Screwed up the first control. I am getting sick of this. It took me about 12 minutes to relocate (which I did from the start triangle), then pretty clean. The rest of the race was much better than yesterday, and I was having fun even when I wasn't getting everything right. I found the first control, I found the rest of the controls, and I even beat someone. At this point, I am doing 21A level courses, so I need to keep my frustration at bay. Tomorrow I get to orienteer again. :)
