QB111 was held this year in one of those towns with double barrel names like New York New York. In this case Wagga Wagga. Day 1 at little burngoogee - tricky hill sides with granite boulders and cliffs. Lost about 1.30 on 1 after passing above the cliff and not seeing it. Then good to 7 where I got confused with the many cliffs in the control circle - dropped about 3 minutes here before seeing someone else punch the control. Rest of the course was good. Ended up 3rd but doubt I would have got Nick if mistake free as not pushing hard enough. Also somehow doubled the advertised climb - not good. Weather - bloody freezing (especially in the assembly area.

"Hard 3B Day 1" - Splits

Despite snow on the Brindabella Ranges and a strong westerly wind delivering a temperature rated as "feels like" 2 C we had a peloton of 3 for the LBG circuit. Easy ride in with the tailwind for coffee at Kingsborough where we were joined by Grant. Ride home into the strong headwind was brutal and crisp. Nice not to drop the bike this time.

Still cold so back on the bike trainer for exercise - after watching the highlights of last nights stage of the Criterium du Dauphine.

Very bleak weather today so apart from walking the pooch and doing a bit of gardening, I pulled out the bike trainer and put the Avanti on it - in the garage.
