Orienteering race (Kenine Hill Day 2) 1:22:20 [2] 5.57 km (14:48 / km) +84m 13:45 / km
shoes: Merrell Continuum

Another terrific course which kept me busy the whole way. Only gross errors were #4 where I drifted left and couldn't really get a fix on where I was until I hit the bare rock up hill from the control - it still had the broken fence laying on it. Then I drifted way left going to #12 and hit the fence and boulder clusters - Zali did the same but recovered much more quickly and led me in the right direction. Great day to be out in good rock.

Orienteering race (Kenine Hill Day 1) 54:50 [2] 4.14 km (13:14 / km) +84m 12:01 / km
shoes: Merrell Continuum

What a great weekend - so good to get out camping for a couple of nights in fabulous weather and with a whole bunch of people enjoying themselves. Terrific job by ADHOC and SWOT. Great to see so many youngsters out there having a great time together. Oh yeah - there was some orienteering too. Terrific to renew acquaintances with the lovely granite at Kenine - I'd forgotten how good it is down there. Despite the setters' and controllers' misgivings, I thought the maps stood up well. My lengthy times were no fault of the maps. Didn't make any gross errors on Day 1 - just plodded around, up hill and down dale.

Cycling (FROGs ride) 2:46:09 [2] 27.54 km (6:02 / km) +105m 5:55 / km
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

The end of autumn and a lovely ride across the city, around the river to UWA and through Kings Park - sort of highlights of Perth tour. Coffee on the grass at Xamia cafe in KP (because the inside was packed and noisy) - should do it more often. The hills in KP sorted out some old / tired legs but a good morning to be on a bike.

Cycling (Carinyah MTBO taping) 2:51:00 [2] 27.9 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

Bit more taping as I tried out the long course for distance. Bit of a worry when the setter manages to skip one control completely :-( Distance would be pretty right if I'd done the whole course. Managed to find (and map) another track (previously unmapped but been there a while) - bit of a pity, as it makes the route choice out the control near one end a bit less interesting.

Note

Over 70 kms of dirt riding since Saturday - long time since I've covered that much ground in less than a week.

Cycling (Carinyah MTBO taping) 1:49:00 [2] 11.8 km (9:14 / km)
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

Take 2 on the short course plus a bit of map checking in some tricky spots.

Cycling (Carinyah MTBO taping) 2:06:00 [3] 15.9 km (7:55 / km)
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

Bit more taping and checking the short course for length - way too long as it turned out so going to need a redesign tonight.
