Orienteering race (NavDash John XXIII) 44:11 [2] 3.75 km (11:47 / km) +3m 11:44 / km
shoes: Merrell Continuum

Did the hard long course and it was fun - mostly. Maintained a steady walking pace around the course with only minor nav blemishes, although #5 could have been a disaster without the Brownlies just in front of me working out it was on a level above where I was. Steady progress until #18 and then a completely wrong exit which left me back at #2 - flipped the map to work out where I was and then still made a hash of getting to #19. The rest was pretty smooth. Must be quite challenging doing it at running pace :-)

Cycling (FROGs ride) 1:58:34 [2] 29.29 km (4:03 / km) +10m 4:02 / km
shoes: Giant Anthem 2 XL 2019

Inverted route today - started at the coffee stop at Kent St weir with Duftys and Wests, north side of the Canning to the bridge and down to Deepwater Point to collect the rest of the crowd. Returned on the south side, out as far as Mason's Landing and then back to the Canning River cafe. A lot of bird life on the river, including a full on feeding frenzy at one point with a melee of several species, from pelicans down. Proves there are fish in the river. Very pleasant ride.
Back on the 29er after implementing plan B and getting a new tyre on-line - one week turnaround ex Melbourne, surface mail. The bike shop's useless distributor can't manage it in three weeks and counting - they wonder why it's getting harder. Pretty tough on the bike shop who has no control over this stuff - just gets left in the firing line from an unhappy customer.
