Started slowly, even by my standards, and that proved beneficial - most of the other M65s overran the first control (and some the second). Plugged along without any significant nav errors and apparently ended up with third place. Same area we used for the early stages of the AMDC in 2014 but started on the far side giving a different feel to the area. I did like going downhill at the beginning, less so the uphill finish :-)
"Apparently third" because I left asap to go and retrieve a very bogged Landcruiser 200 from the adjacent area being used for Sunday. Turned out to be a bit of a mammoth effort for my old LC80 - we had a winch strap and 3 snatch straps joined up (about 60m in all), plus a pair of maxtraxs, and it took four or five goes to get him back to dryish land. Longest recovery I've ever done. A lot of very muddy gear now needs the high pressure cleaner treatment.
