with Tristan, Zac & Shallot. Good sesh and a good one to start back with after not doing much speedwork for ageeeez. felt slow on the first 2 but getting into it on the last 2.
was hoping for my calf to have improved more with light massage and stuff but still getting waves of pain up the inside... have asked Cathy to take a look as i don't think its just tight..

orienteering 1:07:00 [4] 8.5 km (7:53 / km)
shoes: inov8 oroc

Pittwater long (mass start!) - loved the confusion of the mass start, lots of gaffles, loops and people running everywhere on the mens elite and other courses. crazy fun! first 2 loops were clean and good for me, no mistakes and came through with Shallot just ahead on the first one, and then with Susan and Shallot on the 2nd loop. (Mike Dowling on commentary was loving it haha!) Picked up the final map, bit disheartened by the fact we still had another 5km to go..! but tried to stick with Shallot and Susan who were pushing out a pretty hard pace for me.. started to lose them on #5 when I got confused and had to slow down. But it was #6 that got me (and a lot of other people I spoke to after!) .. nice 12mins control where everyone caught me up & overtook me! Must have crossed a path without realising and was just not in the right place at all. Spent the rest of the course playing catch up with Grace Crane and Liis Johansson. We had Tash Key in our sights but she was just too fast. Legs feeling zapped of any energy by the sand! I managed to come in just ahead of Liis who messed up one of the final controls.
Would have liked to have been able to keep up with Shallot & Susan, but its gonna take a bit more time!

orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 4.5 km (13:20 / km)

Pittwater dunes middle - apprehensive about the complex dunes and thought that if i got the first few okay I would be alright. Started out good! no mistakes and all the contours were making sense in my head. Overtook Belinda at #6 which was a surprise to me. Then must have run past #9 as it was pretty hidden and lost a few minutes here... (as did charlotte haha - both had a mare on 9 & 10. apart from #10 was a lot worse for me!) Think i then panicked about Belinda catching me back up and rushed off and didn;t have a solid plan for #10... tried to use the vegetation to come in off which was a big mistake and ended up reeaally confused for aaaages with Anna Fitzgerald. then turns out i forgot to punch #10. good. one. aaanyway rest of the controls were fine! Just those two...
Loved the terrain anyway and so frustrated with that massive mistake!!

orienteering 43:00 [2] 4.0 km (10:45 / km)

round Sandridge pines training map - took a while to get used to the map and found some parts confusing and my brain was taking a while to work everything out. was slow anyway on my calf which is still not improving with attempted massage.
felix is a physio and he took a look at it and basically just gave it a really painful massage omg it hurt so much!!!

round Mt Field alpine tracks:) perfect day :) ran with Jacob, I was going slow cos of my calf and Jacob was saving himself for the overland track. there were a looooot of rocky slopes on the sides of the hill so at times it was just rock clambering for like half an hour.
Really enjoyed, plus we saw an echidna! WOOO!! he was super cute
