After directing the Vasona event and being on my feet all day, and being sick, didn't feel like going out in Willow Glen on a score-O course with a mind-numbing blur of control points on the map. But I went on the course, and got into it. I targeted the 3 "high scoring" controls at the edges of the map and tried hitting the largest clusters and bunches of controls in between, and the strategy basically worked. Came back with a minute to spare, couldn't have gotten any more than I did I think. And stretched. GPS track

Large trek putting out checkpoint markers in Henry Coe State Park. Big country! Ate at almost every other checkpoint stop. Glad I packed nice food. Going up the hill with the 20 pound plus pack was kind of unpleasant - had to climb 2000 feet right off the bat. Saw lots of newts, only one deer, nothing else exotic. No humans. Limping around, thought so much exertion would loosen up my thigh a bit, not really though. GPS track

Great course design at BAOC's Twin Peaks event. Smacked into a pole 0.2 miles from the start. Hard. Dropped. Most of the impact in the sternum, also forehead, pelvis, and following through with my right leg, the right thigh right above the knee. Very difficult to start moving again when I got up, thought it would wear off, but it was tough moving throughout the rest of the course. But I had a good general plan for gathering the checkpoints, probably could have bagged two more of the outliers if I had my usual speed. So I kept the steady pace and executed my route. GPS track

With all the clothes I was wearing I was sweating quite a bit more than I usually do in a workout. My escort ditched me at about 22nd street after we exchanged some pleasantries, and I started toning down the pace at 16th St. GPS track
